Depending on what you are looking for I recall the Spice and Tea Exchange in Old Town Alexandria has some unground spices- salts, peppers, coriander, fennel seeds, etc. They are very friendly over the phone (I call them from time to time to make sure they have something before wandering up the street).
Thanks so much for the information! That's exactly what I was looking for. Here's their website for anyone that's interested.

So the SO and I like to cook a lot at home, and we'd like to get into grinding our own spices as needed. However, I haven't had much luck finding someone locally (I don't mind an online retailer if it's reasonably priced). Any recommendations? Also, if anyone can recommend a reasonably priced manual burr grinder, that is also of interest to us. Right now we're using the electric blade grinder, and it's somewhat inconsistent.

You are about a year too late for the Jalapeno Pork. The specials are the same in Ballston and Courthouse and can be found on their website, updated monthly.
What failure on my part lol. I should have looked closer at the year haha. Thanks for the link and damn you for breaking my heart. I'm still going today regardless!

On the June specials menu: Jalapeno Pork (roasted pork loin, oven-roasted jalapenos and grilled red onion with tomato salsa on ciabatta). Recommended.
I MUST get this today. How did I miss this on the specials list? Are the specials the same at all locations? I live by the one in courthouse. I'm usually all over their take on the Cuban and the roast pork and provolone (garlicky spinach goodness on top too).

It isn't as good as it was when it opened 10(!) years ago but they are decent and I will give one more shout out to the pork and szechuan pickle noodle soup over then specials. They actually make decent bubble tea in-house--not the pre-prepared stuff in individual cups that some places sell. The quality varies depending on the day or who makes it. Their shrimp toast is addicting.
Interesting. I've only every ordered delivery from them and didn't realize they sold bubble tea. Now that I live walking distance away, I'll have to consider some bubble tea.

I can't wait to try this place out. I have a friend visiting that's a non-strict vegetarian. This will make for a great late lunch spot.

Hi folk! You can call me Tomcat. I'm an Arlington resident that was in the industry for a little over a decade (mostly in Boston), and have several friends in the industry here. Despite being out of the industry I find myself drawn to the chatter. So I'm here to learn, discover, and opine.
