  7. Indique Heights Restaurant is bringing the Indian Festival of lights to Washinton DC on Otober 26th.

Neighbors, Families and Friends are invited to stop by Indique Height's expansive outdoor terrace for festivities.

In India, the Diwali or Deepavali festival symbolizes the triumph of good over evil. Lights and 'diyas'

are lit signifying the driving away of darkness and ignorance. Though there are many legends and religious attributes to the festival,

the Diwali/Deepavali celebration is a time of family gatherings, great food and celebrations.

The festival at Indique heights will transform the expansive terrace into a festive bazaar including a diwali feast, henna artists, music,

jewelry vendors. Guests can feast on a great menu of Indian street snacks and cuisine.

The Indique Heights Diwali festival is on October 26th from 12 to 8 pm on Indique Heights terrace at two Wisconsin Circle, Chevy Chase.

Admission is $20.00 per person. Children under 5 - free Children under 12 - $12.00

  8. I tried the ema datsi (rice, cheese, onions, and slivers of jalapeno-like chiles) and nakey tshoem (chicken with fiddlehead ferns, cheese, chiles, onion, garlic, ginger, and special seasonings) yesterday and I liked them both quite a lot, though the ema datsi is not for the faint of heart. The chicken had a nice ginger flavor. I'm curious -- what are the dark reddish brown bits in the rice? Is that just red rice?

    Hi there,

I am glad you liked the dishes - I am going to tone down the heat a little bit tomorrow for the Ema Datsi - I do not know whether you noticed that we changed the chicken dish to jasha tshoem instead of nakey tshoem - nakey means fiddlehead ferns which are out of season and cannot get them.

Now to your last question - yes it is red rice.

I just learned that the red rice eaten in Bhutan is generally polished and is not that red. Whereas the red rice imported from Bhutan comes unpolished and hence is dark reddish in color.

  9. Thank you all for your suggestions and for your PMs.

We went to Central by Michel Richard and had a real good time. The food, atmosphere and service were spectacular. My daughter who celebrated her 15th birhtday was so impressed with the overall experience.

    Cheers!

  10. Hi folks,

My daughter turns 15 today wanted to take her out for dinner. She does not have any preference for any particular cuisine. she does not want Indian as she has them very often at home and at her dad's restaurants. She has asked me to surprise her. She has bad allergies to peanuts, coconut and cashew nuts. Any recommendations? Any where in the Washington Metropolitan area.... Moderate to Expensive - but not too expensive...

    Cheers!
