  1. Not to dismiss your experiences but I’m not sure this is just about race. Service at Ravi I is surly but I’m pretty sure this surliness is directed at everyone. I do think they tend to be much friendlier to regulars and to people that walk in knowing exactly what they want/ how to order. I’m a white woman in my late 20’s and I would go to Ravi I and II often when I lived about a five minute walk from the two places (moved 8 months ago). I would bring my reusable clamshell container because I started to feel bad about all of the Styrofoam I was throwing away. After a while, they started to recognize me with my reusable container and were pretty friendly when I showed up. If you want friendlier service and you're not planning to be a regular, go to Ravi II.

  2. I saw a food cart tonight in Clarendon across the street from the Clarendon metro on the block with the bank (diagonally across from Hard Times Cafe). It's called Metro Halal food cart. It had chicken and lamb dishes and gyros. I had just come from dinner so didn't try it.

At the moment the Metro cart is sitting in Ballston across from the Bank of America. I got the combo platter (lamb, chicken, rice, and salad) and I have to say it is delicious. Meat is tender, the rice is pretty good, and the flavor is big. The portion is huge for the cost of six dollars.

  3. Since I moved to Virginia Square about a year ago I had been walking over to Murky every Saturday but stopped going about 6 months ago. You can call me cheap but I was getting tired of paying $6 for a medium cup of coffee and a peach/raspberry muffin. Now I just walk an extra 10 minutes to the Java Shack for a larger medium cup and a larger muffin for $4.

  4. So how is the taste compared to Tangysweet and old school froyo like TCBY? Is it more of a soft serve ice cream flavor or more like normal yogurt?

Tangysweet's original is very tangy and I found it to taste like lighty sweeted plain yogurt. Mr. Yogato's orignal tangy on the other hand is more like old school froyo, not a lot of tang. But don't misconstrue my comment about Mr. Yogato's froyo to sound like I didn't enjoy it, ohhh it was good!

I'm thinking that if you're in the mood for something really tangy go to Tangysweet. If you're in the mood for ice cream go to Mr. Yogato and if you're in the mood for something in the middle go to sweetgreen.
