Closed. The owner died in March.

They sentg an email a couple weeks ago promising to reopen soon, and more importantly, advertising for help.

Can the title be edited to corner of Columbia Pike and S. Walter Reed Drive?

No entry for her latest venture, Cindy Lou's Fish House? Had a fine dinner of a sort of softshell crab BLT (without the bread) this past weekend. Great bar service

I forgot to mention biscuits were also included--those were good, no complaints.

Well now it's changed name again, to avoid a conflict with some other restaurants in the US with that name: Now it's "Showroom". https://www.showroomfrederick.com/
Got the 8 piece chicken family takeout last night. It was the second time my brother and I had ordered takeout from them (the first time soon after they opened under the "Born and Raised" name).
For $60 you get a lot of food for two people, we didn't even touch the salad (it didn't look all that special anyway).
We had ordered the fried chicken many times at the old Family Meal and loved it, always juicy with a tasty skin and just the right amount of grease. I think they've tweaked the recipe here and while it is still moist, some of the things that made it addictive just weren't there. It just wasn't as "tasty" as it used to be, maybe less greasy but the skin is blander and not as rich-flavored. We also loved the old housemade hot sauce from Family Meal and now the sauce is sweet (with honey?) and we did not like it at all. I ended up putting Tabasco on my chicken.
The deviled eggs were just the same as Family Meal, so that was okay.
The sides we chose were the greens and the buttered whipped potatoes. The potatoes were good and creamy, but the greens were bitter, and we didn't finish them. (For comparison, we love the greens at Black Hog BBQ).
The meal also included some pickled vegetables, which were fine.
In sum, a disappointment which only makes us year for the glory years of Family Meal.

So apparently Family Meal is now "Born and Raised" and still by Bryan Voltaggio. The menu looks nearly identical to the Family Meal menu and still calls itself a "modern American diner". Have not been here yet, it seems to have opened very recently. Hope the quality is as good as Family Meal (the original location--can't vouch for all the other locations).

Okay, so I had one takeout meal from here. The price point is a little high for what Bryan is advertising as a more pocket-friendly restaurant. I ordered the beef short ribs, and while the ribs had a nice smoky smell and flavor they, and I don't say this lightly, got disgusting to me after eating about half. I realize that this may be on me, as I should have expected some fattiness, but some of the slices were very fatty and maybe my body just didn't react well to the taste or the texture of the beef fat. Sides were unremarkable. My dining companion liked his braised cabbage but I tasted it and it was just OK. Maybe I expected too much? Don't take this as a definitive review, it was one meal, and takeout at that. No little gifts with the takeout, like Volt used to do with in-person meals. No takeout alcohol, either, which was a disappointment. Maybe I just had a bad day, take this with a grain of salt.

Last Friday, the old Brownstone that once housed Volt restaurant on North Market Street was full again — or as full as it could be with coronavirus restrictions.
With anxious taste buds at his call, Bryan Voltaggio was right back where he belonged, managing the symphony orchestra that is his kitchen, where roughly a dozen cooks work in close concert with one another to provide a maximum dining experience for their customers.
“It’s amazing,” said the 44-year-old celebrity chef and Frederick native. “I am ecstatic to be back at my stove cooking, to be here daily, to bring my team back. Food is fun. We are excited about what we are cooking. The feedback has been great so far.”

NB: The parking lot is the former, now demolished, Bookhouse.

Closed! Buried in this Frederick News-Post article about the state of downtown business:
Another restaurant to recently close its doors is Volt. While Volt has not been open at all during the pandemic, there are signs that a new restaurant from chef Bryan Voltaggio could be coming soon.
Voltaggio filed a transfer of Volt’s liquor license to a new business named Thacher & Rye — at the same location on Market Street — according to the agenda for the upcoming Sept. 15 meeting of the Frederick County Liquor Board. Voltaggio could not be reached for comment.

Since the pandemic, I have had one email from Volt (their email list was never very active in the first place), and that was a few months ago now. Since then, nothing. The website (also never updated all that often) seems to indicate it is open but I am not optimistic based on my report that Family Meal is currently closed. Any news? Bryan's on the TV again, he could certainly take advantage of the publicity.

The one remaining Family Meal location has been closed for months. Frederick County and City have permitted restaurants to open indoors at 50% capacity, and have given restaurants great leeway in outdoor dining (this location has a huge parking lot). Their email mailing list was never very active but there's been nothing for months. I have a sneaking suspicion FM is closed for good. If so, RIP.
(More info: I live in the neighborhood, and have personally not seen it open at all since the shutdown orders in March. )

The bier mi website is great.

I was not impressed with the Danbury, CT location. Relatives of mine swear by other places.

I went on a recent chilly Saturday, and was the first person in line at 4:30 p.m. I think you'll be fine.

We should amend the thread title, since all the other locations closed and only the Frederick location remains.

Frederick location closed a couple weeks ago. Bummer.

I have been here probably more than 10 times over the last couple years. I don't recall ever having a pizza here, but the sandwiches and salads are excellent, but I temd to always get the meaty Tuna Nicoise salad. It's a meal by itself. Service is always prompt--I've never had a problem getting in and out so I can get to the Ken Cen.

I had gone there for lunch a couple times, and even on a Friday it was deserted. Which is a shame, because I thought it was quite good.

Went here last night for the first time (I work in Arlington but live in Frederick so rarely eat at sit-down restos in Arlington that re only opening in the evening). I've meant to go for years. I had a wahoo special with a sort of gazpacho sauce, and my brother had the miso black cod on the regular menu. My wahoo was excellent, and there was no issue with the food being too-salty as Tom Sietsema remarked when GP first opened. We also had cornbread on the side--it was sweet and more corn muffin than cornbread but not bad. I was glad to see it so busy in an area that is otherwise off the main drag of Clarendon, but it proves people will come if the food is good.
