I can so easily see me losing control of the drill and apples flying all over the kitchen, not to mention peels!

In the less than spendthrift area, I have kept my AmExp card over the years since it is the first one I "qualified" for (does anyone remember when you had to do that?) and I pay it off monthly. Clearly, this reason is purely sentimental. I, too, have a VISA as a back up when a place will not accept AmExp.

This is not subject consistent, but does anyone know where Peter Chang is these day?

If we are interested in the best chef and not the best personality, I think Richard fits the bill.

No. He will be helicoptering in to this new location from time to time, Las Vegas celebrity chef style, while spending most of his time at the place in Atlanta.
He has often said he wants to spread his version of Chinese food far and wide, and planned a series of locations to do so--he has even said (take it FWIW) that his peregrinations have been an early effort to spread his cuisine around, and it is a fact that he has typically trained the cooks where he has been and has left his techniques and recipes behind.
It will be interesting to see how the new place in C'ville works out. At least it won't suffer from him leaving, since he really won't be there in the first place.
You have a point there!

Really? Has he moved from Atlanta?

Tom DeBaggio, known locally for his tremendous section of herbs and heirloom tomatoes, passed away yesterday. We started buying his plants when he was still using his backyard green house in the Clarendon area, and have been making annual trips to the Loudoun county farm in recent years, where his son has been running the business.

I remember the days in the Arlington house backyard and the excitement of finding a parking space. I understand why they moved but it just "wasn't the same" afterward. What a man he was. I am sad today.

The thread on Korean is a good place to start ...
And I'm guessing grover and Escoffier will have some ideas, too.
Thanks for the thread. It was very helpful.

Has anyone an opinion of the place to go which they believe to be the best Korean food?

Last night we found it closed and cleared out. There were the usual signs on the door (hours, parking, etc.) but no notice of closure or moving. I suspect bank foreclosure.
Any thoughts?.
