Any recent experiences? I'm thinking of making reservations for December.
I've heard some mixed things lately. Should I expect Ray's the Steaks: East? (Actually a good thing in my book, as I really enjoyed RTS when I ate there last) or more of the "classics" atmosphere seen around the opening?

I was at Restaurant 3 last night with a couple of friends and sampling a few plates at the bar. There was a gentleman who stood next to us and practically buried his nose in each plate as they were set in front of us. He then proceeded to ask us questions about each dish and offer commentary on our food as we ate it. This guy was either incredibly curious (to the point of being a nuisance) or just took his food too seriously. Dude, just order something. If you don't like it, don't order it again!
Was this man in your party? If not, I would tell the dude to get lost and get a life. Even if he was part of my group, I would tell him to get his nose out of my food. What is wrong with some people? -
Any way that the now-closed Dupont branch will be replaced by a real donut shop?
Have they cleaned up all the construction at that end of the street yet? That location did not seem too appealing last time I was there.

I had a burger there a while ago, pretty good imho. Certainly not among the elite (Central, Palena, etc.) but it was a thick, juicy burger nonetheless.

Get a res, especially if you're hoping for the patio or a smaller room.
Do you recommend any area in particular?

To anyone familiar with the brunch crowd: do I need reservations for me and my +1, or can I just roll up on Saturday/Sunday morning?

I'm pretty sure this board is here so that we can all share our opinions, positive and negative, with other people that are interested in finding out more about restaurants before they go. I'm sure the intent isn't to discourage others from experiencing what any restaurant has to offer based on one person's trip.
You should try it yourself and form your own opinion.
You're probably right, but I've had severs "talk down" to me once or twice before, and it feels pretty crappy, especially when you're paying for the experience. If a sever was surly and then proceeded to push my plate around - while I was still eating - I probably would not be as well behaved as the other poster

Service: Now I am not a difficult guest at a restaurant and have worked at jaleo for many years (not anymore), so I always tip over 20% and don't like to complain. But the service left much to be desired, the way they talked down to me is just not right and the way they dropped the plates on our table unacceptable. We were not done with our first course and they were putting our steaks on the table but not only that. They were moving my plate while I was eating and putting it to the side and b/c I was too passive they took my plate away w/o finishing. I wish I could have talked to a manager, but it wouldnt have made a difference b/c they were encouraging this behavior by acting the same way with us. I am obviously not part of their regular clientelle but the food is good and I would have gone back there but the treatment i got sucked and really made me feel like i was not welcome. I still gave 20%, can't bring myself to give less yet but this type of service was ridiculous.
Well, if it makes you feel better, plenty of people like me will read this and cross BLT off of their "go to" list.

Even when they move into the Blaine Mansion?
I thought that rumor was proven untrue.

I actually really like Hot Stone. I had it for the first time about two years ago, and have made one or two return trips. The BBQ is not good, but the sliced sandwiches (turkey, roast beef, ham) are tasty.
I like to get a sliced turkey sandwich, and then dip it in bbq sauce. Unlike someone upthread, I like the thin slices. My only problem is sometimes you get a charred piece of turkey.

Isn't pizza is still nominally considered to be Italian?
I only know two contractors, but if I explained what Matchbox is to them, they would probably tell someone else it was an Italian joint.

Does anyone know if Black's has a half-priced burger happy hour? I heard such a rumor last week, haven't been able to verify.

A crime is being committed in Old Town right now, and the evidence is that I walked past a fair number of people coming out of Bertucci's, but just short of 2pm when I walked across the threshold, I was the only customer at Eamonn's, the Second Greatest Friggin' Lunch Bargain in Old Town.
For those of us not enlightened, what is the First Greatest Friggin' Lunch Bargain in Old Town.

People feel so entitled these days, it kills me. If you want to order 3 courses + dessert, going out after 10 o'clock probably isn't the best idea.

I do enjoy a potbelly sandwich every now and then, pretty good for $4, plus I'm a sucker for their sugar cookies
[edit: this is off-topic, sorry]

I thought Outback was home of the bloomin' onion. I believe Chili's is known for (ha) baby back ribs...barbecue sauce.

I'm planning on making my first trip to RTC with my +1. Will we have much trouble finding a place in the bar area on a weeknight? Thanks!

Went the the other day - excellent. I had a burger with provolone, cooked medium (which it was). Tasted delicious. This isn't a fancy burger (a la Palena or Central), but a real, man's burger (sorry ladies, I don't know how to better describe it).
Fries were also very good. Hand-cut and crispy with a nice seasoning.
My only complaint - and its trivial - was that it cost about $2 for a fountain drink but maybe thats the going rate these days, I just never seem to notice.
Bottom line: very good, worth every minute that I sat in traffic on Rockville Pike

Is Market Inn any good? I saw them on the Food Network a few weeks ago.

Tom's most brutal review to date.
I thought he gave Pigalle no stars.

I used to love the lobster mac+cheese at Zola. Then, on one trip, I had a ton of shell in my meal and I've never been back.
Anyone know any restaurants in town that have good lobster mac?

How packed is Central these days? Will I have trouble dropping in for lunch at the bar?

Shakespeare wrote that play about DC United. It was entitled Much Adu About Nothing.
Did he write a Real Salt Lake version too?

I wish more restaurant-folk had this attitude. Might cut down on the self-entitled behavior that seems prevalent these days.
