  1. Trust me, I have exactly 0 investors, and even fewer friends.

Anyone who does legitimately have my number knows not to be an ass about it, and the guiding principle behind Ray's The Steaks is that no one has claim to special privileges--not even me. To this day, in almost six years, I have not sat down to dinner in Ray's The Steaks, so what you say more than rubs me the wrong way, it galls me.

Sorry you had to witness that boorishness, and trust me, an investigation has been launched...

I wish more restaurant-folk had this attitude. Might cut down on the self-entitled behavior that seems prevalent these days.

  2. I was at Restaurant 3 last night with a couple of friends and sampling a few plates at the bar. There was a gentleman who stood next to us and practically buried his nose in each plate as they were set in front of us. He then proceeded to ask us questions about each dish and offer commentary on our food as we ate it. This guy was either incredibly curious (to the point of being a nuisance) or just took his food too seriously. Dude, just order something. If you don't like it, don't order it again!

Was this man in your party? If not, I would tell the dude to get lost and get a life. Even if he was part of my group, I would tell him to get his nose out of my food. What is wrong with some people?

  3. I'm pretty sure this board is here so that we can all share our opinions, positive and negative, with other people that are interested in finding out more about restaurants before they go. I'm sure the intent isn't to discourage others from experiencing what any restaurant has to offer based on one person's trip.

You should try it yourself and form your own opinion.

You're probably right, but I've had severs "talk down" to me once or twice before, and it feels pretty crappy, especially when you're paying for the experience. If a sever was surly and then proceeded to push my plate around - while I was still eating - I probably would not be as well behaved as the other poster B)

  4. Service: Now I am not a difficult guest at a restaurant and have worked at jaleo for many years (not anymore), so I always tip over 20% and don't like to complain. But the service left much to be desired, the way they talked down to me is just not right and the way they dropped the plates on our table unacceptable. We were not done with our first course and they were putting our steaks on the table but not only that. They were moving my plate while I was eating and putting it to the side and b/c I was too passive they took my plate away w/o finishing. I wish I could have talked to a manager, but it wouldnt have made a difference b/c they were encouraging this behavior by acting the same way with us. I am obviously not part of their regular clientelle but the food is good and I would have gone back there but the treatment i got sucked and really made me feel like i was not welcome. I still gave 20%, can't bring myself to give less yet but this type of service was ridiculous.

Well, if it makes you feel better, plenty of people like me will read this and cross BLT off of their "go to" list.

  5. I actually really like Hot Stone. I had it for the first time about two years ago, and have made one or two return trips. The BBQ is not good, but the sliced sandwiches (turkey, roast beef, ham) are tasty.

I like to get a sliced turkey sandwich, and then dip it in bbq sauce. Unlike someone upthread, I like the thin slices. My only problem is sometimes you get a charred piece of turkey.

  6. A crime is being committed in Old Town right now, and the evidence is that I walked past a fair number of people coming out of Bertucci's, but just short of 2pm when I walked across the threshold, I was the only customer at Eamonn's, the Second Greatest Friggin' Lunch Bargain in Old Town.

For those of us not enlightened, what is the First Greatest Friggin' Lunch Bargain in Old Town.

  7. Went the the other day - excellent. I had a burger with provolone, cooked medium (which it was). Tasted delicious. This isn't a fancy burger (a la Palena or Central), but a real, man's burger (sorry ladies, I don't know how to better describe it).

Fries were also very good. Hand-cut and crispy with a nice seasoning.

My only complaint - and its trivial - was that it cost about $2 for a fountain drink  but maybe thats the going rate these days, I just never seem to notice.

Bottom line: very good, worth every minute that I sat in traffic on Rockville Pike
