Taberna has Jamon Iberico on the menu for $26. The serving is a dozen hand sliced pieces, and frankly worth every penny. It might seem like an outrageous splurge until you think that a dozen oysters at the West End Bistro will set you back $36, and I have yet to have an oyster that can compare to the shear delight of this acorn scented ham.

Yesterday at lunch the bartender handed me a slice of the regular Serrano ham for a side-by-side comparison, and he was right when he told me that it is going to be hard to eat the regular Serrano after that glorious plate of Iberico.

jaleo has it for 8$ per oz. I don't really know how it compares, but I'm going today to la taberna to try it.

So I no longer have a car and I´m stuck in Cleveland Park. Can anyone offer solutions for where one can find good baby lamb? I prefer in the city, but metro accessible will do. Thanks for the help

Definitely get the rabbit roulade stuffed with bitter greens if it's available. I don't remember which days it is offered.

You should also try to pappardelle with rabbit ragu, the foie gras dish I had a few weeks ago was really good as well. I really like Tosca

This is a shame. I really liked this place, I hope they get a chance to reopen at another location.

So my trip through Spain was all work and not much pleasure, but I did find a couple of places I wanted to share with everyone. While in Madrid I had time to enjoy beers, excellent navajas (razor clams) a la plancha, berberechos (cockle clams) al vapor, boquerones en vinagre and padron peppers at a bar called "Cerveceria Cruz" situated around la Latina area, known for weekend day drinking. For 60 euros (3 people) we had a great time and the best navajas i can remember. Also had excellent fish, carabineros and gambas de huelva at a restaurant called el pescador, bring the big bucks for this one. For less formal seafood you can also try el cantabrico, which i usually recommend to friends, but on this trip to madrid the real find was cerveceria cruz. For steak/power dinner, you should try asador fronton, where you will come across several famous people in Spain and eat an excellent chuleton, but please keep in mind that this is just a steakhouse and like such it is a stale environment, full of older established people, less adventurous, but amazing at what they do best: Roasted Segovia baby lamb and chuleton. Also can't go wrong ending the meal with montecristos, just b/c you can.

I was also in Barcelona and Palma Mallorca, but I had too much work to try good food. Well in Barcelona I went to the famous Ciudad Condal, but I dont think it's all that special, good but not great. Next trip in February, this time Butterfly we will have to hang out at cerveceria cruz and enjoy some cañas

minibar is also a cool experience, but I did not enjoy it nearly as much as Komi.

I agree, but you have to go to be able to say that

To me it depends on whether you have eaten at the Minibar or not. Having eaten there, here's my ranking:

1. Komi

2a Restaurant Eve Tasting Room

2b Cityzen

3 Minibar

I just cant bring myself to 100% say that Eve is better than Cityzen. This was really tough

You should also ensure that your pimenton comes from "D.O. La vera". It does make a difference and once again I agree with Zora, A&H is the place to go for pimenton.

I really enjoy Komi for special occasions, but maybe a good way of eliminating options would be to see what places have availability on your birthday.

I agree with Zora, I think the seafood at A&H is the best in the area and sometimes (not often) you can get head on shrimp

I am going on business travel to Madrid and would like to have some options around all price ranges. I'm staying in plaza Santa Ana. I will also be in Barcelona and Palma Mallorca, but I think that's another thread. I am from spain so I don't have trouble with the language, just havent been to madrid enough to be able to identify all the good food around there. I've eaten at some places before: Viridiana, La Broche, Zalacain, Casa Lucio and el cantabrico on the pricier side of the scale as well as several others that are more reasonable. Can anyone recommend any good finds?

I have always enjoyed the crab cakes at McCabes (on falls rd in Hampden). Not sure if others have tried but I happen to enjoy them over Faidleys, which tend to taste a bit dry.

I'm thinking of taking my girlfriend to equinox on 11/24 for her birthday. Being that I'm a procrastinator the door has closed for Citronelle (my first option), but I really want to make sure that it's good and I need to one up her after she took me to Komi (alpha male competitive side kicking in). Whats the latest on Equinox? Should I be looking somewhere else? Proof? Palena? Should this question even be on the Equinox thread? I'm confused
