  1. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/18/dining/chinese-barbecue-turkey-thanksgiving.html

Above is a link to a NY Times article.  It describe places that cook turkey using the chinese BBQ method.  Do any of you know a place around Washington DC area that does this (or fries a turkey)?  I'm looking for either. (I am not interested in the doing wither of techniques myself at home.  Lack of skill and don't want to clean up either. )

  2. LoveHockey,

Thank you.  Spoke with my parents and unfortunately they cannot make it into town.  My appologies.  They were really bummed, as well.

Please take us off the list (that is 3 people) and I hope we didn't create more issues for you.

This is a generous offer and I hope other can take advantage.

    Again thank you.

    Regards,

  3. Went there yesterday. Came back into town..I was tired and hungry and all wanted was soup.

Went to TSJ and got dduk guk. I got to taste it on $20 Tuesday set up by G&E. I went back wanting some more and it did not dissappoint. IMHO the TSJ is serving the best rendition of dduk guk in k-town. The broth was just amazing. Not overly salted (problem with most other dduk guks), the broth had just an amazing and authentic taste and mouth feel. I brought back memories of the dduk guk my grand mother use to make. I would high recommend this soup.

BTW, was there close to 8pm. The place was packed an a couple people waiting. People sitting to me were having kal guk su w/ clams. I think I will try that next.

  4. guys, just looked at the weather. they are calling for snow showers. If it is not too bad, I will make it @ 5:30. 5:30 works better for me as I can get home before the kids go to bed.

However, if the weather is bad, I will beg out. I know I am being wishy washy. My appologies. If someone needs a spot who can definitely commit, I will give up my spot. Let hope for now snow until after 9pm tomorrow.

  5. I wanted to thank some of the folks I work with (and their spouses) so I have invited out them for dinner. However, the place I was thinking of seem un-inspired (chain type steak house in tyson's). I think if when there, folks will be happy but wife suggested perhaps I ask the folks on this board.

I'm trying to show some appreciation for folks who really help me out at work (along with the spouse). Price is not a big deal. We'd like a really nice dining experience (I don't want a quick sit down meal of app, main dessert and they rush you out). Most of the folks are coming from fairfax area. like to keep the driving under 45 minutes.

    Any recs.

  6. We've had other strong storms go through this region but this one seem to have been worse then most and I am not sure why.

As for the loss of food, it can be replaced.

I worked for the ma bell systems (remember the guys that made you rent phones from them). I don't ever recall the phone not having dial tone. My phone didn't have dial tone for two days. I guess all that redundency was replaced out for new technology and efficiencies. Too bad.

Seems like the last reliable delivery to home and business is natural gas. That didn't go out.
