I hereby proclaim Andy Myers to be a drummie because he doesn't like bad drum playing.
Carlos Salzedo is a harpie.
Okay, what's a better similarly-situated chain? Corner Bakery is terrible. Panera? Potbelly?
-
It's lame.
It's a sandwich chain. I don't expect the foodies on here to enjoy it. It's kind of bland and the salad bar is crap, but it's nice that a chain will make a muffaletta.

He ordered his burger medium well!!!! wtf
I would have thought he'd order it with a red, warm center. Shows what I know.
Saw the report on CNN while I stopped in to Jason's Deli in Falls Church. Good-bye, delicious Hell-Burger, we hardly knew ye. See you in a few months when the crowds die down.

Arlington Weekly News has the inside scoop on Ray's the Catch from the man himself...
What did he say? I can't use Youtube on this computer...thanks in advance

But is it worth going to?
I did not eat there, but for drinking/sports, the answer is no. $4.50 for a bottle of domestic beer and, while there were many HD flat panel TVs showing the games this evening, the crowd was much more interested in how awesome they thought they were than basketball. Pass.

Courthouse location is now open.
But is it worth going to?

Keep going around the building from 5G to MJ then to Rt(new)S...
Like, past Robek's?
-
Where's the entrance? I'm familiar with where Five Guys and Me Jana are in that building but I have no idea where another restaurant would go. Thanks

Exciting news for all three of you out there (and trust me, I am not one of them) that aren't sick of me and/or Ray's: The Steaks in the media (I am quickly becoming a veritable barton seaver/Jose Andres/Todd Gray all wrapped up in one) I will be a guest/roast victim on Warren Rojas' chat on the Northern Virginia magazine website today beginning at 11 AM.
Now the chance to find out all you never wanted to know about my sex life and find out the answer to the all important question: Commando in the Kitchen--Do I or Don't I?
I, for one, am itching--nay, dying--to hear details about the menu at Ray's the Catch.

Me neither. I had a tasty omelet last week...and the coffee was quite nice, I agree. Looking forward to trying out more of the menu now that they have opened. And sandwiches are only cheaper if you go to Jonathan's or Potbelly, but not by much at the former. Ever seen the prices at Au Bon Pain, for an inferior (IMO) product?
You can get a substantially cheaper sandwich (with fresh roasted turkey, carved for you) at Lawson's. Or a Boar's Head sandwich at Fresh Meal for $5. I'm not saying CF Folks isn't overpriced, I'm just saying Bread & Brew is.

I've had coffee here several times this past week during their soft opening and have been quite enamored of their cappuccino. It's tasty, not OVERBURNT coffee which is the real redeeming factor. The food looks really good but I have yet to try it and the prices are pretty solid too.
Obviously, service is a bit slow, but hey, it's their first week. I'm pumped on this new addition to the neighborhood.
I did go on the first day it was open (horrendous service confusion, but I'd never dock a place for issues before its grand opening), but you really think $7.50 for a turkey sandwich is a solid price?
-
What are the hours on this joint? I might stop by here for lunch today since it's just a half block from the office.
Website just says grand opening Jan 13...is it soft open? Any details on menu? Thx

Every President seems to have a DC area favorite restaurant. Does anyone know President Elect Obama's?
Or perhaps we could speculate what it might end up being?
I'm sure it would have been Red Sage.
(in advance: it's a joke, please don't start a flamewar.)

Damn, I was really hoping it was the other kind of brew ...
What other kind of brew? The website says cocktails AND coffee, and their craigslist ads seek baristas and bartenders...
-
Actually, not even that. If they go into bankruptcy, employees are pretty far down on the list as far as creditors go.
This isn't true. Wages (for the 90 days before the bankruptcy) are given a priority claim, above any unsecured creditor.

Actually you are right, it was 18th and I, I was half asleep and not caffeinated enough.
[Rocks please change my mistaken sub-title]
Blast! That's too far to walk from work. Oh well...
-
It appears from the signage in the windows at 18th and M that Pret a Manger has begun its invasion of DC.
I'm sure everyone here will hate this, but any idea when it will be open, or how far along it is? Which space at 18th and M? Thanks
-
Yeah, they've got another location in Arlington, not far from Ballston as well. I used to work over there and get a salad from there almost every day.
Where's the one in arlington?

Be forewarned: a diabolical surprise awaits all guests at Ray's The Steaks this coming Monday.
Color me curious...

Seriously tired of subway, port of piraeus, even lawson's. Are there any good sandwich places out there that I might not have tried? Desperate here for a good, simple sandwich for lunch. Thanks in advance
-
you mean a local branch of this place?
I, too, am intrigued. Another pub in Clarendon?
-
Does the place have a liquor license? I'd love to stop in for Fried Shrimp/Calamari/whatever and a beer.

Well, I can't argue with that...wish there was a drive thru within 20 miles.
