Thank you to all three of you for this sound advice. I took three trash bags full of laundry to Arlington Laundrymat at 89 North Glebe Road (703) 243-2645 - this is the one that beachgirl54 recommended, and not only was I happy, I was happy enough where I'll use them again and again. I walked in around 2:30 PM (it's open 24 hours, I believe), and a Latina lady working the laundromat stepped behind a counter, weighed my bags, and said, "44 pounds?" I said, "Sure." At one dollar a pound, I'd *happily* pay $44 to have this nightmare officially over. I had been overrun, deluged, and had just plain given up. "5 o'clock?" she asked? I looked at her with a skeptical eye. "Today?!" "Si." "Well, sure!" I had just assumed it would be a couple of days, but I guess this is what they do for a living - at my house, it might have been a couple of months. Everything was washed, neaty folded, and ready to go in two large clear plastic bags, with socks matched and everything. I had the option of bleach vs. no bleach for my whites, and scented drier sheets for all the clothing (I love scented drier sheets because they remind me of when my mom did laundry for us). I walked in, she pointed to the bags, I gratefully handed her $50 and told her to keep the change. No fuss, no muss, and absolutely a repeat customer - I could not be happier, and to anyone who *hates* doing laundry, especially folding bedclothes, and has a little disposable income (I realize this is something of a luxury item, but I was happy to give this nice lady my business), it is money well-spent. Highly recommended.
