ol_ironstomach Posted December 7, 2009 Share Posted December 7, 2009 In case you hadn't heard, Compass Box has just recently reintroduced their "Spice Tree", a vatted Scotch which receives a second maturation involving highly charred boards of top grade French oak. The original (and utterly delicious) 2005 release was discontinued when the Scotch Whisky Association declared that their use of inner staves contravened the legal definition of Scotch whisky; this new release incorporates the specially selected wood in the barrel heads, which should satisfy the SWA.
