  1. Not necessarily sure if these are great cheese courses but they will be interesting. For a friend's recent birthday present we visitied Cheesetique and purchased the end of their Yak cheese supply.

The friend was suitably surprised given his taste in unusual cooking ingredients.

His current plans include the obvious, fondue and the disturbing, Yakaroni.

  2. One aspect which has been left out of the culinary comments on the extension is the new AMC cinema.

I found the beverages to be particularly wet. The ice was satisfactorily cold and not too pointy.

The popcorn, Orville Redenbacher's, had the benefit of being free and tasty. Since this was the cinema's first evening of business I believe that the popcorn oil was fresh. Only time, and oil changing schedule, will tell if the popcorn maintains this standard.

Seats very comfy. sound stunning and Serenity gets two thumbs up

  3. Wandering through the interent from link to link can lead to some very odd little cul de sacs. So there I was reading about cell phones and USB ukuleles when I came across a site on sausage carving. Bonus point for translations

    Japanese sausage carving

Also on the same site the "Turbo Tap" beer dispenser. Link here

So now it'll be possible to screw up a decent pour of Guiness in record time :P

  4. Much to the horror of my beloved spouse, Hannah, I am quite the fan of black pudding. But then with Irish parents that was inevitable.

The best I've had locally is definitely the Morcilla "Bar La Esquina" at Jaleo.

There's also the British Pantry in Aldie, VA. They have a decent little restaurant and store selling frozen black pudding amongst other things.

If you do make it out to the store I also recommend the milk chocolate McVities Hob Nobs, possibly the most addictive biscuit / cookie in the world.

  5. I really shouldn't read threads like this just before lunch, but I really did enjoy my Five Guys burger from the Chantilly branch. Great food as fuel.

As I was standing in the long line contemplating my burger (darn those long lines and people who phone in orders for their entire offce / congressional district) I pondered another element of a good burger. The stuff. It's the reason 5 guys is my favorite local burger place, a good mix of addons. And the jalepeno / onion combination should keep the boss away.

On the subject of "stuff" the fried lemon slices that come with the Palena burger are a perfect side to the burger.
