Second shout out to that deck. We learned that even on the hottest of muggy evenings, the placement of the building makes for a cooling breeze and surprisingly refreshing atmosphere. Believe this, not your thermometer, and zip up there soon.
(danke again)
(to those that posted this event)
(twilight at eventide...fitting!)
sounds great. I'll watch this space for the August one...

"Have you tried the brisket?"
"Have you tried the arancini?"
"Have you tried the pound cake? The spring rolls? The kibbee footballs? The haggis? The wings? The other wings? The s'mores? The beer?"
"Here, have some fava bean crostini."
"Let me bring you some ..."
There is always great food at these picnics, but I don't remember quite this much swooning and raving, and steering of others towards favorite items. Just one great hit after another, a seemingly never-ending parade of dishes.
"I can't eat another bite ... ooooh, gelato!"
sigh.

Not dinner so much as a late afternoon snack. It might qual for dinner if I don't get off my duff to go get food-food.

Ok, as meals go, this wasn't all that inspiring, but, it was easy and very good. I have something to eat over rice for several days now.

agm, nqd, and moi visited here Sunday night. My first time. I'm still full. Excellent meal and what a great price! Two glasses of wine, an app, and the huge meal (which ended up doubling as lunch the next day) - 41 bucks plus tip. Can't beat it.

Hi all
In the three categories: dirt cheap, regular priced, and spendy - what three in each category are absolute must-dos, IYHO?
Let's say you were leaving the area, never to return - at what nine places would you dine before leaving?

I had the pleasure of accompanying Adam and Colleen (NQD and AGM) to Evening Star last night.
An aperitif each (plus a bottle of very well-priced St. Emilion), 5 apps for the table (which prompted a visit by the chef, who had heard that "his brother" was dining there that evening), stupendous main courses plus divine desserts for all and we made our slow way back to the car afterwards. I'll leave Adam to describe the meal in detail. I DID have my camera but didn't take photos...

and thank you kindly!

Gotta top this one - yum yum!

I visited this with AGM and NQD about a month or so ago. First time. I was astounded. I am also surprised that the FM in Loudoun suck utterly, especially compared to FCFM. Leesburg isn't too bad, I had an enjoyable 45 minutes (mostly near the winery stand) but for the most part the FM I have visited in Loudoun are pretty skimpy. It's ironic when you think about it...
