  1. Made it in for dinner here on Sunday night. Arrived around 7:20 or so and was told it would be a 20-25 minute wait, which seemed odd since I could see 4 open tables - but no big deal we were in no rush. The bar was fairly empty, maybe 4-6 people at the bar and another 8-10 people tucked into a few tables in the corner. I'm not sure our bartender ever tended bar before in his life - despite not much going on we had to wave to get his attention after about 5 minutes of standing there - no menus, nothing. Finally he approached and asked if we wanted to order anything - I asked for recommendation on a wine and he told me he has not tasted any so he had no idea. Ok. Finally got some drinks and I began to notice more and more tables open up but no one was getting seated, finally after I saw 10 open tables I approached the hostess who told me they were not seating anyone else for 10 minutes so the kitchen could catch up. I must have seen at least 20 people come in and see the empty tables and then be told a 20 minute wait, turn and walk out - not the best first impression.

Finally got seated after 25 minutes and service was fine. Waiter explained to us that one of the servers walked out in the middle of dinner and they were shorthanded and apologized in advance for any delays. Once we were seated we did not notice any real delays, our guy was hustling pretty good all over the place - seemed like he was put in a bad spot by someone.

Ordered a couple salads which were a decent size and nicely dressed, nothing special but solid. Tried 3 pizzas and all were soupy and the crust undercooked - not crisp at all but chewy and lacking flavor. The ingredients all seemed fresh - if they can improve the crust and perfect the cooking they could be on to something.

Wines were affordable if nothing else - although the pours are pretty lame and they were out of a couple bottles already.

Will probably wait a few more week to return until they have everything ironed out but we will likely return. Pizzas were 50% off and the kids got free gelato (believe today is the last day for the deal).

  2. Ended up at Brooklyn's Deli, we had been a few times for lunch but this was our first trip for breakfast. Arrived around 10:15 or so and found it to be crowded but were able to get a table after about a 5 min wait. I should have known to expect problems when the table next to us was yelling at the waitress that they had been waiting over 30 minutes for their food. Our waitress finally arrived after a 10 min wait and told us to expect things to be slow.

The food was all great: corned beef hash platter, eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, bagels, etc. The service was just a disaster. I know its a deli and I don't expect perfect service but it was out of control. Asked for bowl of pickles 4 times from 3 different people - never arrived. Syrup for pancakes finally arrived 10 minutes after pancakes. Sausage arrived after we were all finished eating. Hash platter arrived with only 1 egg instead of 2. Drink refills were non existent. Our waitress laughed it off and said she was having a bad day. We never had any problems the times we ate there during lunch so I will chalk it up to a bad day on the service end but will be back for the food.

  3. Stopped in for dinner last night, 8 of us (4 adults/4 kids) and were able to snag one of the picnic benches outside at around 6:15 pm. Not very crowded when we arrived and never seemed to get too busy while we were there. Between all of us we sampled a fair amount of the menu.

    Good:

Lobster Rolls - had both the warm and cold. Both were excellent but as others have noted a tad on the small side for the price.

Fried Clam Belly - A pretty good size serving - lost count of how many exactly as everyone was trying, including the kids.

Lobster Stew - A good amount of lobster. Blueberry muffin went to the kids so I did not try.

Ice Cream - According to the waiter made in-house.

Beer List - Nice addition to a pretty woeful beer scene in Bethesda.

    Average:

Fries - Tried a couple and not very impressed. I try not to eat fries unless they are top notch - not worth the extra calories. Probably would not get the fries again.

Onion Rings - Again too much breading for my taste.

As other have mentioned not a cheap night out but a great addition and we will be back often. I know they are going for the lobster shack theme but it would be nice if they would add some plates and silverware instead of the plastic knives and forks and the cardboard containers. A few minor hiccups-out of calamari, out of the wine one person ordered and waiter had a tough time with selecting a beer for one person. Looking forward to trying the steamers once/if they get added to the menu.
