  1. Hello again,

This may be starting to stray from the topic a little ( I am still looking for a real job. )

There is a website (am I allowed to say what it is?) where pizza nerds, like myself and a few others, will find a plethora of information, particularily in the department of rigging a regular old indoor, household oven for making a variety of different style pizze.

I have never rigged my own oven as I have had access to proper pizza ovens for most of my adult life, but, many people on the forum have had quite good results and have posted the pictures to prove it. There are also many recipes.

Let me know if I am allowed to post a link.

As for lessons I am ready and willing to teach. We would just need to work out the logistics, location, (compensation).

I have a friend with a nice little pizza oven for whom I have orchestrated a couple of pizza parties. Perhaps he would be willing to let us use his space when the weather improves..

Let me know if you want to pursue these things or hire me as your personal pizzaiolo.

  2. I had the pleasure of dining at Comet this evening.

I must say that I found the service just about right, attentive but not annoying or pretentious.

Thought the decor was nice too.

I did find myself shaking everything that was even a little loose looking for the bathroom. That was fun.

The pizza was interesting, very crispy, good flavor, and mine even had a weird little hole in it. That was fun too. I have a little bit of heartburn.

Overall, a nice place to eat. Didn't change my life but, I will go back. Possibly for beer pong?

Speaking of Pong has anyone mentioned that the oven kind of resembles a giant ping pong ball?

  3. Hi.

    I am currently seeking employment.

I have been working in restaurants (all positions) for the past 17 years.

    Skills include:

    Master Pizzaiolo

    baking

all positions on conventional hot line

ordering/inventory (I have many contacts among local and national purveyors)

    hiring/scheduling

    food/labor cost control

    menu writing

    consulting

    etc.

Please send a message if you think you could use my help.

    Thanks,

    -E

  4. That is assuming that parents actually use strollers. That is assuming that parents would find walking through the restaurant to be an "inconvenience". Wish you well with your second floor. My family and I won't be there.

    Thanks for the good wishes.

Don't forget what happens when you "assume".

You should bring the kids in...just put them in 1 of those strappy kid carriers that hangs off your chest (or if they are big enough just let them walk)

Walk right up to the waitress and declare, "We want to sit upstairs and we will not take no for an answer."

    That would be fun.

Heck, I might try it with my 2 kids (and they can be really annoying)

She can't say, "no". Its Cleveland park and the customer is always right.

    meh.

  5. I am kicking myself for never having been to this restaurant.

Now that my buddy John is working there I have no excuse.

I will be making reservations tomorrow...(is there a dress code?)

I guess all the time working for Hartmut Handke and knowin he and Buben were pals has scared me away.

    No more, I'm going..
