Hello. My name is Michael, and I'm an on-again, off-again DC resident since 2000, my latest stint since November of 2008.
I work in politics and government, but my real love is food. Cooking and eating.
I love good ingredients, my hobby is preparing labor intensive meals (much to the enjoyment and occasional chagrin of my girlfriend), hate food trends (although I do like cupcakes, but won't wait in line for them...), and spent way too much of my disposable income on restaurants and groceries.
My ideal restaurant is neighborhood-y, seasonal, comfortable enough for a weeknight, but exciting enough for a weekend. A place I'd take a date and my parents. My current two favorites that fit that description: Ris and Hank's Oyster Bar.
