  1. My chiropractor is in this area, and I was in the mood for Korean food, so I gave it a try. I had a lovely lunch, although service was slowwww (particularly at check time).

Appetizer: the small (5 pieces) of friend dumplings. Meh. Not bad, but not great. Should have saved my appetite for more panchan (had about 5 different ones, kimchi, spicy cucumber, radish, bean sprout, and a homegrown green veggie w/ garlic. all good, but I found it odd that they served it at the same time as my main course)

Main: I forget what the proper name of this dish was, but it was spicy chicken served on a hot plate with some veggies, with rice on the side (so, not a bi bim bap). perfectly spiced, great flavor, slightly oversauced and soggy, but that was forgivable given the great flavors.

verdict: I would (and will) go back when I am in the area, but probably not worth going miles out of your way for if you have decent korean options that are closer.

  2. Its not in Don's MD dining guide, so I figured I'd ask about restaurants in Ocean City. Been coming here every summer for more than 5 years now, but wondering if there are any hidden treasures to try for an upcoming date night with my wife.

We stay on the Ocean side around 125th street, but anywhere in the area is fair game. As of now, the plan is Liquid Assets, but open to all suggestions for places that might be better. Thanks in advance.

  3. I tried this place the other day after reading the reviews here. Despite the decor of what looks like a former Starbucks, I really enjoyed my meal. The Lamb Burger was delightful, although the Red Curry Mac and Cheese was disappointing (sounds good in theory, but trust me, avoid it). The Bengali deserts were really interesting as well, can't say I have ever tried that before.

Also, the hidden gem is the loose leaf tea selection. About 30-40 varieties, and they made me a lovely Organic Genmaicha iced tea. For only $2.50 for a large.

  4. Not sure the, uh, metaphor, quite fits. But in any case, I don't think any of us would begrudge you if you simply flagged links to your DCD reviews in the relevant threads here -- and I'm fairly confident it would make the discussions in those threads even richer, and that we'd all be grateful. I, for one, welcome efficiency in my gastro-surfing.

i agree Don, your reviews for your other sites would be most welcomed in the threads here. Cheers!

  5. Ok done, I will extend it to next Saturday the 16 of October. But just for the DonRockwellians. Mention that you're a MEMBER OF DON ROCKWELL when reserving your table - and if you're not, then please JOIN before reserving.

Chef Donna, your promotion has led me to come out of my longtime status as a passive (yet daily) observer of this wonderful forum and to join and participate. I had the pleasure of speaking to your lovely wife when I called for reservations yesterday (Wed.) and my wife and I are greatly looking forward to a special dinner Saturday night. Congrats on the opening and we are looking forward to joining you this weekend.

To everyone else in this thread and throughout the site, thank you for keeping me and others apprised of the dining scene here in the DC area and I look forward to contributing to this community.

    - Don
