  1. I can't beleive it has been one year, but my husband and I are celebrating our one year anniversary this month! Holy crap! I made reservations at Eve, but sadly there were no reservations to be had in the Tasting Room. Should I keep the reservation? Is the regular dining room first anniversary-worthy? Thanks in advance for the input.

  2. Whiule wages may be the same at whole foods as Giant and Safeway, workers at Whole Food do not have a company sponsored pension plan (merely a non-matching 401K plan) and health care for most full time ee's at giant and safeway is company sponsored and workers pay little to nothing for it.

And yes, Whole Foods is vehemently anti-union. I know from personal experience from an organizing drive that I was involved with.

  3. DC Coast usually does the whole menu with some upcharges for some dishes like the lobster. Same with Ceiba.

Also? Some of you all are snobs. Restaurant week is great for those of us that can't dine at Palena, Eve and BLT a few times a month or even once a month for that matter.

  4. I was there last week as well for a conference and a few food highlights:

Rough cut tuna nachos at Mesa Grill

    Thai Chicken Salad at Spago

Breakfast buffet at Wynn (that was particilarly awesome and calorie filled!)

    Filet mignon at Craft Steak

  5. Roger Troutman and I had a kind of crappy V-Day dinner last year at Charlie Palmers. The reason it was crappy was the terribly slooooooow service. But on the up side they gave out a coupon at the end of the meal for 25% off a future meal there. But we never actually used it.

After our experience with dinner out on NYE, I think the husband and I are staying in this year.

  6. I would get flamed to death if I named names.

I am also positive that this was a symptom of too many people and too much food trying to come out of the kitchen so I think that this night should not be the final determination on the greatness of this joint.

That said, I am still pissed that the two of us spent nearly $300 and it was totally not worth it. $300 on a normal night at this place would get you stuffed silly and an expensive bottle of wine to boot.

  7. I went to one of the restaurants mentioned above as part of a group of six for dinner on NYE. It was one of those places that are excellent on any other night but sucked much rear for dinner that night. We had a five course dinner. Our reservations were for 8:30pm and we did not get out of there until 11:45. This was not because we were lingering over a bottle of wine. This was because it took forever to be served. We were even once served someone elses second course which ended up being incorrect, not for our table. They were then swooped up form beneath our forks and plopped down on another table. Plus it was expensive as hell.

Next time we are eating in.
