4 oz bottle of Nielsen-Massey vanilla bean paste $11 @ Williams Sonoma. Not bad, as it's $9.95 on Amazon. Lady in front of me also buying a bottle, amusing the cashier. WF and TJ did not have it today.
Recipe for bourbon pecan pie called for either paste or extract -- thought I'd splurge; never used it before.

Vanilla paste available in local stores? Not at Wegman's or Penzey's, so will be checking Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, MOM's today....

At DC Brau promptly at 1:00 pm to refill my growler. Wrote down Zora's BBQ sauce recipe in case we lose power and access to my (computer-stored) recipes. We're set.

If you have the time, I would suggest that you drive to Racine and grab a pizza at Well's Brothers.
And if you're in Racine, pick up a kringle. If you've never heard of it, do it anyway.

Spike, if I want to see things that look like cheap knock-offs of NYC, I'll look at both your menus, which are directly cribbed from superior establishments such as Shake Shack, Artichoke, and Stand. In the meantime, you'd do well to tuck your stupid hat a little lower and keep your mouth shut for a while.
Calls for the creation of a new Spike-centric slam along the line of the Texas "All hat, no cattle."

As for me, I've been a Yelper since this afternoon and I'm not in jail yet. Seriously, yelp is a term that describes dog whining . So are yelpers bitches?
You're a Yelp whelp.

And the only options to comment on a Yelp review are "useful," "funny," or "cool."

2011 Leinenkugel's 1888 Bock but of course.

Jerry's Seafood in Lanham? From the Beltway it's the Maryland 450 exit to Lanham, then Lanham-Severn Road. May be a bit pricey, but good!
Or their larger location in Bowie, near the Rtes. 50/197 interchange.

What's the difference between a pasty and an empanada?
Wiki sez:" In a proper pasty, the filling ingredients must never be cooked before they are wrapped in the pastry casing; that is the main difference between a pasty and an empanada."
I would add: Yoopers have never heard of an empanada.

Create a "Dairy Police" uniform, hit your local university dorms/frats/sorors and proclaim a raid. Promise that there will be no fines or criminal proceedings involved as long as they return all of the contraband crates in their possession. Start underground side business selling the excess that you will gather.
You'll never take me alive, copper!

Fox News Sunday's Power Player of the Week for his East River efforts. This is not the piece that aired but apparently some additional footage of Chris Wallace's interview. Power Player Plus: Michael Landrum

I do find the menu (with pictures) funny because essentially each taco looks the same.
And even on the plate -- our table's second order of the night of 3 carne asada and 1 cecina; couldn't tell which one was the cecina by looks alone.

Why? I'm curious as to why people try his food?
That's an easy one: "'We' means togetherness, unity, peace and good will. ... 'We' is the promise of better days and brighter futures and the opportunity to finally be ourselves because together, 'we' are one. ... Smells are richer. Sights are more beautiful. Sounds are clearer and Tastes more glorious with 'we.' 'We' brings meaning to the mundane. When 'we' joins together and puts another before 'I' and 'me,' the world becomes a better place."
Wee, the P add your own "sic(k)s"
Don, are you writing copy for him?

Thank God for table service. The Bethesda vultures that populate the original are downright ridiculous. One of the best burgers I have ever had, but having to fight for a table makes the experience totally unacceptable. I will visit this incarnation shortly.
About 4:30 Sunday afternoon, we were the only ones who chose to sit outside Ray's HB. Inside was pretty full, apparently with the heretofore-unknown-to-me species of vulture. While the day was a bit warm, we were in the shade, and enjoying our burgers outside was very pleasant. Even the guy strolling past with a "Meat is Murder" t-shirt couldn't change that.....

Can't speak for their catering, but Kloby's has a pretty solid rep for BBQ, ribs, etc. They do whole pig, as well. I would think Laurel would not be too far for them to deliver to Sandy Point.

Cesina is a Oaxacan speciality. Are the people who run this place from Oaxaca? Are there other Oaxacan dishes on the menu, or is it strictly tacos?
Owner is from Puebla.

This dad's favorite is the flavor of the day -- Buttered Pecan. Ray's HB followed by visit here for dessert -- Happy Fathers Day indeed.

When does the new season start?
Next Wednesday.

To be fair, I don't think I've seen anywhere that he claimed that he DID invent such a shake.
Pretty close.... from the Express interview: "This shake is undeniably delicious, but I had no idea it would become, in fact, legendary. We thought of the idea because we're huge marshmallow freaks in my family..."
-
In '08 reviews of GSE, Ann Limpert and Tim Carman, as well as one other reviewer, wrote that he added yogurt to his shakes. Whether he now uses sour cream as per his cookbook, Rachael, Oprah, CBS Morning Show, etc. etc., I don't care. Just commenting on the stupid boast that he invented the toasted marshmallow shake, particularly when his early version was just like the Stand's and likely others before either.
