  1. Going to check out Proof this weekend for the b-day, but could only get in at 5:30. So I figure, after enjoying a meal and some wine at Proof, we'd walk around a bit and then get some dessert. Any suggestions in the area?

So far I've come up with:

    PS7

    IndeBleu

    Central

Cafe Atlantico (just there a few weeks ago)

We are definitely into the more "fun and adventurous" dessert category, however I wouldn't say no to an outstanding and well executed straightforward dish either.

    Thanks for the advice!

  2. Does anyone have any recommendations for how to cook a BBQ style pork shoulder in an oven? I'd love to smoke/grill cook the thing, but can't in my apartment. Previously I've used the Michael Mina pulled pork recipe - decent, but not quite what I'm looking for.

    Thanks!

  3. The Mazza location soldiers onward towards its opening. I missed their blurb back in February, but apparently the new location's menu is getting a working over from none other than Ris Lacoste. Last week, Robert Kacher was seen conducting a wine tasting for the new list, so it'll be interesting to see just how much more they can do just over the DC border.

Keep us updated! I had a nice dinner at the RC in Bethesda, but work in Friendship Heights. Would love a new lunch spot nearby.

  4. For what it's worth:

I had lunch at M Cafe (downstairs) and was not overly impressed. However, I have had two co-workers both eat at Famoso (upstairs) and say the food was excellent.

Personally, I'm interested in going to Famoso for lunch (all they are offering for Bethesda/CC RW), however so far I haven't been able to get them to send me a copy of their RW menu.

  5. My husband E and I had lunch today at Farrah Olivia. Since he is the professional writer, I will let you see what he wrote about it (with a little in put from me). I, of course, am CG.

Thanks for the review CG... after reading the previous posts on Farrah Olivia I was starting to think about cancelling and finding another option, but guess we'll give it a shot.

Any of the Wednesday diners have reports?

  6. I went out in the rain this morning to try the Lambchopper Pao de Queijos. They were excellent. I am in favor of them haveing them on a regualr basis. I "had to settle" for a bag of the chourico/cheddar which were very good (they have been all eaten already today :) )

Ditto to that.. wish we could have taken home a bag of the lambchopper ones as well. We also tried the chevre variation, which we noted that at least at "room" temperature, the textures of the cheese and pao's seemed to be almost too similar. However, once warmed up, it would probably be an entirely different story.. drool.
