sheldman Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 I'd been curious about Mr. Chen's for a long time. What I found was a standard bearer of American Chinese carryout. Nothing exceptional, but at the same time it's questionable whether you can expect much out of what is listed on their menu. Sort of like starting out with a false premise and working from there. I think the right place to go for good Americanized Chinese food in Woodley Park - for delivery or takeout that is, since I don't even know if they have seats - is Eddie's Cafe, right next to New Heights. Mr. Chen blah. Eddie's - pretty good, especially for delivery food in DC. Had some kung pao tofu, broccoli with garlic sauce, and spinach the other day that was good for dinner, breakfast and lunch. Of course these things can go up and down rapidly.
sheldman Posted February 11, 2012 Author Posted February 11, 2012 Of course these things can go up and down rapidly. Yesterday (ordering from Eddie's for the first time in a good while) was down, down, down. Actively bad, like "squeaky undercooked eggplant, old and undercooked broccoli, gloppy tasteless sauces" bad.
