momonjava
Be sure to check out the new Lorton market on Sundays from 9 to 1, through October 25. It's a beautiful setting, behind the shops on Lorton Station Blvd in the VRE parking lot. The Washington Post "All We Can Eat" blog gave props for "most photogenic" market! Here's the link: All We Can Eat article The quality is top notch and there is a great mix of vendors; listed below are just their primary offerings (many of the vendors are quite diverse, and products change with seasonality): Kuhn Orchards: fruit Ingleside Nurseries: outdoor plants Patty Bakes: sweet baked goods Garner's Produce: vegetables Cibola Farms: buffalo and pork products Pleasant Fields Farm: vegetables Sharkawi Farms: herbal tisanes and dried herbs Mt. Olympus Berry Farm: vegetables and berries Crackpot Gourmet: preserves and savory cooking sauces Toigo Orchards: fruits, vegetables, jarred items Laurel Grove Farm: vegetables Swiss Bakery: breads, baked goods Middleburg Creamery: ice cream Does this sound like a sales pitch? I guess it is. I've been privileged to be the volunteer market master for this brand new market. It has been a wonderful experience working with these dedicated folks who work so hard and take such pride in what they bring to market. So, any chance I get, I'd like to get the word out...please stop by, say hello, and support these local vendors (they're all from within a 125 mile radius of Fairfax County).
