Burghound Tasting and Dinner

I normally don't publicize events, but I consider Allen Meadows (aka Burghound) to be a dear friend, and I'm more than happy to alert everyone to both the Friday-night tasting and the Saturday-night dinner, both of which are filling up quickly. Allen is widely considered to be the most knowledgeable Burgundy expert in the world (certainly outside of Burgundy proper). I'll be at the Friday tasting, and hope to meet some of you there. Here are the details:

On Friday, September 11th, joi n Allen on an enchanting journey through the Cote de Nuits, as he leads an informative tasting of eight rare examples of Burgundy’s best. If you’d like to meet Allen in person, or just learn a bit more about Burgundy from one of its masters, purchase tickets for the tasting now at $75 each. Although quantities are limited, small amounts of the evening’s wines will be available for purchase.

2005 Michel Lafarge Volnay, 2005 Simon Bize Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Fournaux, 2004 Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale, 2004 René Engel Vosne-Romanée, 2000 Denis Mugneret Grand Cru Clos de Vougeot, 2004 Sylvan Cathiard Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Clos de l'Orme, 2006 Lignier-Michelot Morey St. Denis 1er Cru Faconnières, and 2004 Denis Bachelet Gevrey-Chambertin (based on availability reasonable substitutions may be presented)

Also, the Park Hyatt's BLUE DUCK TAVERN is offering a special supper meal to be served in the TAVERN after the tasting - only for those who attend the tasting. A special selection of Burgundies will be offered at the supper. Please join Allen “Burghound” Meadows on Saturday, September 12th for an unforgettable and intimate dinner. Celebrated Chef Brian McBride of The Blue Duck Tavern will present a 4 course gourmet meal paired with six extraordinary Burgundies – including 1999 Musigny from the Grand Cru’s two best producers. This is a remarkable opportunity to sample the glory of Burgundy with its most noted expert. Space is VERY limited to approximately 24! Tickets can be purchased now for $350 per person, inclusive of tax and gratuity. Although quantities are limited, small amounts of the evening’s wines will be available for purchase.
