Emily and Melissa Elsen, the expert pie-bakers behind Four & Twenty Blackbirdsare planning to open a gigantic new outpost in Gowanus. The 3000 square-foot space at Third Avenue and Sackett Street will have room for more ovens and more pies, plus an outdoor dining area, a rooftop herb farm, a retail area selling pie-making equipment and other kitchen items, and a cafe that will eventually serve soups, sandwiches, beer, and wine. The Elsens will also host classes, and plan to use the kitchen as a training facility for new employees.

Should be some kind of comment from someone about Flint Hill, VA and the great restaurant that was once there.

Maybe some digging online can answer these questions?

- Is this Brooklyn spot by the same people who had the Flint Hill place by the same name some years ago? We used to love going there but thought that was a married couple versus the two young women in JoeH's post above?

- Guess the new NY (Gowanus) location of thus biz hadn't happened as planned since advertised for last summer?

- Whatever did happen with the owners of Four & Twenty in Flint Hill?
