osis = "Pertaining to a disease"

Sclero = "Pertaining to hardening"

Sclerosis = "A disease that hardens tissue"

Lateral = "Pertaining to the side"

trophic = "Pertaining to nourishment"

myo = "Pertaining to muscle"

myotrophic = "Nourishment of the muscle"

A = "Without"

Amyotrophic "Without nourishment of the muscle"

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis = "A disease which damages nerve cells (*), affecting the side of the spinal cord, which hardens, and becomes unable to nourish muscles."
