Holiday volunteers needed

Just in case anyone is looking for something (charitable AND food-related) to do in the next week or so, I got this in my email today:

Volunteer at Food & Friends during the Holidays!

Make the most of your days off and start a new holiday tradition! Food & Friends will be open throughout the weeks of Christmas and New Year’s, and we hope you will join us in spreading holiday cheer and much-needed nutrition to those living with life-challenging illnesses.

The following is a list of our 2006 Holiday Volunteer Needs:

MEAL DELIVERY SHIFTS: DECEMBER 25, DECEMBER 30 & JANUARY 1

Gather your friends and family to deliver freshly prepared meals, groceries and friendship to our clients living in DC, MD and VA. There are two shifts to choose from each day: 9:00am; 10:00am (on Christmas Day there will also be an 8am shift).

KITCHEN SHIFTS: DECEMBER 27, 28, 29

The kitchen will be as busy as ever as we prepare thousands of meals for our clients. Lend a hand chopping veggies, portioning soup or packing meal bags to ensure that everyone gets fed on time. Two-hour shifts from 9-11am each day. Volunteers must be at least 14 years old to volunteer in the kitchen.

We will operate on a Holiday schedule on December 25 and January 1, with the kitchen only open from 6am-Noon.

Confirmation emails will be sent prior to your volunteer shift with information on how to get to Food & Friends, where to park and what to expect. Thank you so much for your help!
