Batched Cocktail Calculator

With Thanksgiving coming up, I though I'd share a tool I use to scale up cocktail recipes into batch quantities. This way they can be made ahead of time, saving the host from having to make each drink from scratch.

Batched Cocktail Calculator

The linked spreadsheet is read only, so to use, click on the link above, then click on File -> Make a copy.

Choose the total volume you want to scale to, then input the proportions of the cocktail you're making. The idea is to pre-mix the cocktail, then fully chill it in the fridge or freezer before serving, so the water in the recipe mimics the dilution you typically get from ice melt during shaking or stirring. If you plan on stirring/shaking to order, omit the water.

Drinks composed entirely of shelf-stable ingredients (manhattan, negroni, vieux carré, etc.) can be stored indefinitely in the refrigerator. Drinks with fresh juices are at their best on the day they're made.

Empty Ford's Gin bottles, with their graduations in both oz and ml, are particularly useful for this.

Nice advice.  Its really quite acceptable to batch cocktails when necessary and they can come out as terrific as singly prepared drinks.  Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans has been showcasing this for some time, teaching how its possible and then serving high volumes of intricate drinks to discriminating tasters (or so they think they are discriminating).  Quite a few articles on this.  Here is one
