Turner and Constable: The Inhabited Landscape

"Contemporaries Joseph Mallord William Turner (1775–1851) and John Constable (1776–1837) rose to prominence as landscape painters in early nineteenth–century England. Their inspired choices of subjects and the distinctive way in which they composed their views, together with innovative brushwork, helped elevate a traditionally overlooked genre. Turner and Constable: The Inhabited Landscape features more than fifty oil paintings, watercolors, drawings, and prints that explore the importance of the built environment and the human figure within the landscape."
