1000yregg
This weekend, I went to Birches Restaurant in Canton with some friend from out of town. While parking is somewhat of a pain there, I found a tight space and we walked by the Greek Orthodox church to get to the restaurant. The food there was very good- a take on comfort food items like mac & cheese, burgers, but also with some upscale items. For starters, most of the table got the delicious baby spinach salad with chili oil popped popcorn, avocado, tomato and halloumi cheese. I got the Pizzialo Grilled Steak- a flank steak with tomato sauce and cheese on top of garlic polenta. Tasty. I also tried the Mac & Cheese- a little runnier than I thought it would be, but really nice- not too sharp. Birches runs a comfort food contest every year- On the menu that night was corn fritters with venison chili. For dessert, we shared a really good blueberry cobbler with ice cream. The clientele definitely had a neighborhood feel, and all in all, it was a nice place to go for casual dining on a cold night.
