Totally, this guy is definitely a crook. And you're right, It does seem like a weird choice for the payoff! The tip system doesn't excuse him cheating people, but I also sometimes wonder why restaurant owners are the only bosses who don't have to take responsibility for paying their staff a minimum and are allowed to let it fall on the clients.

Things have changed since 2009! I've been visiting Detroit every May since 2005 and have seen things change drastically. No longer are you forced to eat in Greektown on the weekends because everything else is closed downtown. Had some very good Detroit pizza at Loui's (yeah i know it's not the original) and fried chicken at a place I forget. Detroit is still not upscale but it's great for southern fare.

And tonight, it's going to be wings from Bon Chon while I watch an outdoor movie, just so I don't accidentally get too healthy

Last night I made broiled salmon with an adapted version of this recipe from Serious Eats: a spring veg salad with asparagus puree and lemon dressing. turned out really delicious!

This is totally messed up, but if we take a step back, to me it's just one more reason that we should pay servers the full minimum wage so that they don't have to struggle so hard to get by. The tipped minimum wage is still $3.77 in DC and $2.13 in VA.

I've been living in Brightwood DC for about 6 years but my work takes me to the suburbs often and so I've spent a lot of time trying out restaurants in Langley Park, Annandale, Culmore, Baltimore etc. Fav spot I've found are the lunchrooms for day laborers near Seven Corners, where you can even get a meal plan for a week's food if you want Excited to share and learn about new restaurants with y'all
