Clams casino, mussels in white wine, spaghetti and meatballs. Tons of bread.

We're semi-regulars at the Silver Spring Goldberg's as well. I've noticed they have bialys, but I've never eaten one. I'm far from a bialy expert -- I think I've eaten one or two in my life and the last time was a long time ago. Now I want to try one again!

As for parking, there's a county lot diagonally behind Goldberg's (per Google Maps it's the Columbia Boulevard (Lot 12)). It's a 2-3 minute walk to Goldberg's and handy if, like me, you're too much of a wimpy parker to deal with Goldberg's lot (which is indeed a shit show!).

My lunch most days whether at home or at work is a sweet potato, a half can of black beans (well rinsed), and about an ounce of goat cheese. Pretty glamorous! :-)

While I'd love to buy my lunch at work, it would be bad for my wallet and my waistline. Every once in awhile I'll buy my lunch if I'm meeting a friend or if I don't pack for some reason.

I think it sounds good, but I don't think I've ever had it, either.

If you're on Facebook you can check their events by date. I've found things to do that way before. I saw the Czech Christmas Market on there.

We made yet another Skinnytaste recipe tonight: Chicken Curry with Coconut Milk. Four-year-old at first proclaimed loudly that she didn't want it (we hadn't had it in awhile, but I was pretty sure she'd eaten it in the past). My husband relented way too easily and agreed to make her a cheese sandwich (cheese melted between toasted bread -- because we're out of the Costco burritos she's obsessed with), but when she saw our bowls of curry she said "I want that!" and proceeded to eat almost as much as my husband and me.

That's too bad, although I have to admit I never made it there. People on various Silver Spring listservs I read seemed to like it.

My 4-year-old is currently obsessed with the Don Miguel chicken and cheese burritos sold at Costco. That's what she ate for dinner last night and a couple of other nights this week.

What about Afghan Bistro? It looks like it's about 15 minutes away so maybe too far. But it's delicious and they have a full bar.

I couldn't possibly name the best Central American restaurant in the area, but Tim Carman has written flattering things about El Catrachito, which is Honduran and was also a Washingtonian Cheap Eats selection for 2015. They apparently have baleadas. Despite living close by I haven't been there yet!

I've also read positive things about La Casita, which bills itself as Salvadoran. I haven't been there yet, either.

Another special tidbit: Thirty-five-year-old journeyman Steve Pearce, who grew up a Red Sox fan (in Florida -- his dad is from Massachusetts), has played for every team in the AL East. He not only wins the World Series with the Red Sox but is the World Series MVP.

So sweet to see Manny Machado go down (literally) as the final out.

This was such an amazing team that it would have been a crying shame if they hadn't won the World Series. I know the Red Sox aren't the scrappy underdogs that they're sometimes portrayed as, but after that long World Series drought, including the 1986 Bill Buckner debacle and the 2003 horror against the Yankees, these championships still feel extra special to this lifelong Red Sox fan.

Tonight we tried a new recipe: 30-Minute Thai Peanut Chicken Ramen. I may have gotten it from the Instant Pot thread here on dr.com (but we may it on the stovetop). First of all, the recipe was delicious. Our house smelled like a Thai restaurant. Second of all, my 4-year-old asked for a cheese quesadilla (one of her staples), but when she saw the soup she decided she wanted some, spinach, mushrooms, and all. She ate a decent amount. I was surprised and delighted. She's now very attentively watching "Conan the Barbarian."

My daughter ate an apple* on the way to preschool this morning (but she gets fed breakfast at the school). I'm not looking forward to dealing with breakfast and lunch again (next year in kindergarten)! (We may need to start another thread on packing school lunches if one doesn't already exist.)

*This is much better than many mornings, when she insists on "a little bit of Goldfish." We ran out of Goldfish last week, and I keep telling her I need to get more at the store even though I bought more at Costco on Monday. Thankfully she hasn't discovered the treasure trove of Goldfish in the pantry yet.

Last night for dinner she ate steak and potatoes. She's definitely my husband's daughter (steak fiend).

Although I haven't been to Element in several years, and know almost nothing about it now, it (along with the closed Apartment 2G, which was merged into Element on Main) was *easily* the best restaurant in Front Royal at the beginning of this decade (I've been there numerous times).

Thank you! Maybe we'll try Glen Manor and/or Element. A friend gave me a bottle of Glen Manor's sauvignon blanc for my birthday and I can't wait to drink it!

"Bing bread" drives me nuts. I noticed it as Momofuku, too. It reminds me of when people say "naan bread," which also drives me nuts. But according to Wikipedia "bing" literally means "biscuit," and "naan" means "bread," so I guess saying "naan bread" is worse than saying "bing bread."
