I think too many of them are way too arrogant. If I were going on national television for any type of reality show, especially for something that I am supposed to be a professional in, I would have taken a few days and prepared and researched what mistakes were made in prior years and how can I avoid making the same mistakes that are made over and over again.
I have been to both winners restaurants and people's restaurants who have been kicked out early. There have been really good restaurant and really mediocre restaurants in both of these catagories.
The two consistent things that I have found in eating at a contestants restaurant both before and after appearing on the show - BEFORE FAME CHEF IS BETTER AND HALF THE PRICE!!!

I like later in the season when there are fewer chefs left and we actually get to see them planning and cooking something instead of a 10 second clip of five pans that tell us nothing about what is going on.

I have never been to Volt, I keep saying it is on my list. I did try once when I was in Frederick for the day and they were closed for a private party. I am not a fan of Range, I have been there twice and very underwhelmed both times in service, and price for value. I can say that I do like Family Meal, having been there about a half dozen times the most recent on a weeknight about a month ago when I had to run an errand out there. The service there was really great at Family Meal with a young, fun, enthusiastic staff. I realize these three places are very different and the only thing in common is that Brian Voltagio owns all three places.
I don't think he comes in very much to FM. The night I most recently went in was a night that Top Chef Masters was on and at 10pm when the show started it was not even playing on any of the tv's.
Don - I know I got off topic but don't think we have a Brian Voltagio thread. -
I was hoping for the same happy result (I mean, I'm an Amazon Prime member, after all!) but they seem to be back.
I am sure it will be added free to Prime members for the Kindle edition only.

Very Cool - I remember having lunch with James G a few years ago.

Interesting and Thank You. I am going to Morimoto's in Philadelphia Saturday night and I noticed the word Omakase on the menu (at three different price points), I really didn't know what it meant but many many reviews said go for it at the middle price point ($120pp).
Any opinion's or feedback is appreciated.

Last I checked, RTS takes them (but still holds room for walk-ins) and RTT3 does not.
I am almost positive I had a reservation at RTT3 about two months ago for a Saturday night.

Hi Don,
Thanks, They are looking for a Saturday night. Preference definitely sounded like a larger restaurant with a private room. They were thinking not too late as many of the people coming in has never been to this area before and probably will want to walk around or go out after making a full night of it.

Looking to host a wedding rehersal dinner in Annapolis for 75 in May (not for me - lol). Type of food is very open but nice atmosphere and condusive to mingling. Price I don't have but I have been told (not an issue).
Recommendations and ideas are appreciated.
Thanks.

Anyone been lately? I am going to be in Frederick Saturday night and the fried chicken is calling my name.

I'm surprised, I think all of the pilots were decent. But damn, I want the bourbon bacon ice cream recipe.
I agree but we have to root for the home team - Go Rodney!!!!

I have been enjoying BGR lately - I hope they keep up the quality without Mark and don't screw up a good thing.

I have also used them for a small-move move and they were really great. I found them from a Groupon and took a leap of faith, but I now completely recommend them.
Their actual time was about an hour over estimate but I think I probably had more boxes than they were originally told.
Professional, reasonable in price and over 80% of their staff is ex-military.Harold Meyer

And it's been rumored we do one of the better burgers around.
Based on the perfectly cooked medium rare burger I had there two weeks ago, I would say the best burger. Pair it with some fresh pasta, local veges and you will have one of the most perfect comfort meals.

I like the HT in Potomac - open 24 hours and a pretty decent grab and go section for easy dinners.
-
I agree - Jetties has been very consistent lately and very good.
I still think their prices are about 20% too high, but they are probably 30% better than most other places in the area.

Dangerously Delicious founder is on the Next Food Network Star this season - started tonight.
Let's root him on, I am a fan,

I had a nice meal here last night;
Not the best meal that I have ever had but a nice healthy meal that I was very comfortable with. I have been avoiding eating out a lot because of the extra calories in restaurant food. I got the lamb chops with asparagus and based on the portion size (relatively small but not tiny) I think the 500 calories was probably accurate. Very tender and flavorful.
a couple of apps each at no more than 300 calories were split (mushroom caps stuffed with shrimp, scallop and a pinch of panko), I had some trouble believing that they really came in at the calories they claimed but it was not out of control. Not everything was a hit the non fried egg rolls stuffed with crab, definitely had a poor vegetable to ratio (but I am sure that is how they kept it in calorie check).
Desserts are nice and tiny so that you can have something sweet without worrying - The mango cheesecake and rocky road something were split between two and they were 300 calories each - based on the size probably accurate. Desserts were really good, sweet without sicky sweet and the small size let you savor it.
Service was really nice last night and I felt waited on without any pretense. The manager was walking around the dining room stopping at every table asking each table how the night was going. It was done nicely without feeling intrusive. I would go back anytime, they let me feel comfortable.

I remember getting lobster specials there when I was dating my ex wife (about 20 years ago).

I was there a few weeks ago before a game - The Flat Iron Steak was excellent (but remember tapas portion size). I did not like the risotto (This is the first time in memory that I sent back risotto - their service was excellent and gave no issues and replaced it with something else).
We did not get pizza, but the table next to us ordered the porky's revenge pizza and it looked REALLY GOOD (I have made a mental note that next time I am at Verizon Center I want to go for pizza).

Went tonight - The postings above are very fair and accurate;
MEGA HITS - Pot Pie Fritters, Fried Chicken and Milkshakes
Above average - mac and cheese
Not worth it - Duck Fat fries (soggy and limp)
I am going to disagree with Dan and say that I enjoyed the Earl Gray Donuts - more of a cake donut but I liked the flavor with the chocolate on top.
Didn't get but the table next to us got the iceberg lettuce wedge with blue cheese and made a note that it looked creamy and fresh.
I will also say that I will not call this cheap eats (Ran about $75 for one adult and two kids) - I do have some leftovers that will be dinner tomorrow night but still a little more than I was really planning on spending - not outrageous but not cheap eats either.
Also want to add that I was happy with the service, not polished 5 star, but that wasn't needed. Very comfortable and casual nice kids for servers. I had no complaints tonight but could see how they will get overwhelmed if they are very crowded and busy. They were busy but not over crowded. They also have wifi, it was locked but they gave my daughter the code when she asked the waitress.
I would absolutely go back especially makes sense before or after a Frederick Keys game

After having been to all three Moco sites recently (CS, DaMarco and Mia) - Da Marco is at the bottom of this list and Mia's is at the top.

Going to a concert at Verizon Center next week and can't decide between Graffiato or Tosca Pre Theatre Menu - I haven't been to Tosca in years, but used to love it. Enjoyed Graffiato a few months ago, but will probably be crowded on an event night - early reservations still available for that night.
Was going to do Proof but no reservations available early.
Updated comments are appreciated.

When we hear things like this can we start a pool on how long it will be before it closes up or completely changes concepts.
What do you think the over/under is on 6 months?
