  1. Boy, this topic i started has turned out pretty well.

Dino, I appreciate the analysis you have done on the subject.

I started this by just ranting that I just didn't like the electric hand dryers. I still prefer a towel. My real preference is for my hands to be lovingly hand dried by a beautiful large breasted woman or two.  If your are going for the Grotto theme, you should consider other grottos. How would Heff have handled it?

  2. At Dino, we spend approximately $25 a week on paper hand towels.  That is at least a 33 gallon trashbag a day of trash.  So for the Grotto, I made a commitment that we would have electric dryers.... the XLcelerator dryer is green listed and earns you leed points.  It really deliverers the best combination of price, speed and energy use {especially compared to the Dyson Airblades}  Unfortunately, they run about 400 to 540 depending on finish.  And, it is insanely hard to find anything on eBay at less than full price.  But perseverance led to a pair of new white plastic models at $570 plus shipping.  The white ones look dorky IMO, but hey, $1160 for chrome vs 570 is a big difference (in fact, it paid for a door)!

Just as I was about to hit buy now, I did one last search and behold"¦ a pair of chrome babies, used but in pretty great condition.  I had to zoom on the labels to check the voltage and amperage, and they matched what the bathrooms are wired for already.

I am sure you are aware that the general public (me) hates those electric hand dryers. They take too long, and just plain don't work.  The Dyson thing is no better than the conventional.

  3. In-N-Out is closer to expanding nationwide than ever before.  Their whole thing was that they wouldn't open a location that was further than 500 miles (aka one day's truck) from their processing plant in California.

Well, after all these years they now have a second processing plant in the Dallas area.

I can certainly think of another region that would be prime to open a lot of locations in a 500 mile radius...

So, its not a local chain, we wish would go national. Its a national chain some would want to expand locally. A bit off topic.

  4. We were at Range a couple of weeks ago. I was prepared to find fault, because I thought the menu was too trendy and expensive. All in all we both liked it. It was exciting to see everyone at the restaurant to be so excited about working at this new concept. We found all of the menu selections to be very tasty, and the cocktails were terrific. I didn't have a problem with the service, but we were there quite early, before 6:00p. I did wish my second drink came more quickly, and I would have ordered another if there was more timely delivery of the drinks.

My only complaint was on the menu. It was expensive, but that wasn't the problem. There were some dishes that were big enough to share, and others that weren't, There was no indication on the menu concerning which category the dish falls into. The price can't be used as a guide, as some of the smaller menu items are priced higher due to the cost of the ingredients.

  5. I'm sorry to tell you that your restaurant sounds absolutely terrible, and the type of place which is showing contempt to the health of your customers, providing easy calories presented using fattening ingredients and unhealthy preparations.

Your comments would have more impact if you had visited the establishment

  6. I got a surprise when I was at Whole Foods, yesterday. I went in to buy three bottles of wine, but found eight that I was interested in. When checking out, the cashier told me they don't take checks any more, only cash or credit. Needless to say, they lost that sale, and probably many more. This was news to me. Has anyone else experiened this?
