We are headed here next Friday night with friends. We have a later reservation (8:45). Looking for suggestions on a place to meet up before hand and grab a drink. Any suggestions?

Finally managed to catch one of the specials at Grapeseed last night. What a crazy good deal. Last night was mini oyster po boy, softshell crab blt, NY strip steak and brownie sundae. All for $45. I also included the drink pairing for $20. Wife feared it would be too much food for her so she opted for the fried oysters and salmon which was also terrific. All topped with great service at the bar.
Great way to start the birthday weekend.

Thanks Don. Had a feeling the suggestion would be to get there early. Unfortunately, we need to make a stop at a Derby Party beforehand, so unlikely to arrive before 7 pm and more likely 7:30.

Any recent experiences eating at the bar on a Saturday night. Have a birthday this Saturday and was too late in making reservations but thinking about walking in and trying to eat at the bar.
Suggestions for a Plan B if that does not work out? Thinking the bar at Corduroy.

We have done holiday parties at Columbia Firehouse (nice event space but mediocre food). We have also used Landini Brothers which was very nice and everyone seemed to like the food, not sure of the minimum for Friday night.
Other possibilities: Blackwall Hitch, Lighthorse, Virtue, Union St Pub, Overwood, Mason Social.

Not exactly sure on all the math but this is adding up to one expensive night out.
Dinner - $200 (includes service but not tax)
Wine Pairing - $100 or $185
Sub-Total - $300/$385
Tax (10%) - $30/$38.50 (unclear how much is taxed since the ($200 includes service)
Grand Total - $330/$423.50 (plus additional gratuity for wine pairing) -

Stopped into Sal's last week for dinner with wife and son. Arrived around 7:00 and place was packed - a good sign? Grabbed a drink at the bar (3 beers on tap) and table was ready in about 10 minutes. Interior appears to be the same as when it was Indigo House.
The boy had the meatball sub ($8) which he devoured but the two medium sized meatball looked a little dry to me. The wife had the branzino ($18) which came highly recommended by our waitress. The wife thought it was perfectly seasoned and cooked. I opted for the chicken parmesan ($16) - it was just flavorless and the sauce did not help at all. Only ate half of it but waitress never inquired if there was a problem - only asked if I wanted a to go box, which I declined.
We are always seeking options close to home and away from the nightmare parking in downtown Bethesda. Unfortunately, I don't think this will make it into the regular rotation.
