We stopped in Saturday night. We were not hungry so the small plates approach was appealing. We grabbed two seats at the bar, which was packed along with the restaurant. It was raining so not sure if anything was open on the roof top level. Looks like they did some minor renovations but nothing too crazy
Service was great at the bar, although they seemed to be overstaffed. They must have had about 6-7 bartenders and a manager behind the bar. During our time there we were waited on by 4 of them.
Pretty good beer selection, maybe 5-6 beers on tap and a bunch of bottle selections.
We tried what they are calling a tuna bar - we had the sashimi and tartare. The tuna looked great and the presentation was very nice but to me the taste was not there. Although it was likely me as my fondness of fresh tuna has waned over the past few years.
We also had the wasabi blue cheese guacamole and lamb pot stickers. The lamb was the clear winner. Tried to order the duck rolls but they were not available.

Anyone been recently? Contemplating.
Amazing that it has been nearly 10 months since any posts here.

Apparently owes $60k in rent.

We loved Atchafalaya in the Garden District on our last visit. Great bloody mary bar, live music and really good food.

Looks like you need to move them to the multiple locations before they even open. Coming to Pike & Rose also.
Interesting that they note the Alexandria location is a few weeks away from opening. That seems optimistic based on what I saw when I walked by last week.

Born and raised in Philadelphia - lived in same rowhouse (1 bathroom for 4 people) from birth until I left for college.
College in Washington, DC for 4 years.
Egypt for 2 years on a construction project (lived in the middle of nowhere, 2 hours from Cairo and 1 hour from Alexandria).
Returned and lived on Capitol Hill for a couple years until we (college roommates).
Retreated to Alexandria, VA (King St and 395 area) for another year or so.
Kingstowne area prior to all the development for 2 years or so until I met my wife.
Town of Glen Echo, MD for 4 years until birth of 2nd kid.
Bethesda, MD for last 12 years.
Never thought I would stay in this area this long considering neither my wife or I have any family here.

Just returned from a perfectly timed weekend trip (missing the snow here and lucking into temps in the high 70's there). Will try and write some more details later but the highlights were:
August (Friday $20 lunch)
Luke (perfectly shucked oysters, tried to hit happy hour on Friday but it was beyond packed, glad we returned Saturday afternoon)
Peche (get the whole fish)
Three Muses (great small plates on Frenchmen St),
Couchon Butcher (perfect sandwiches)
Johnnys Po-Boys (great greasy breakfast)
Atchafalaya (Awesome brunch in Garden District with make your own bloody mary bar. They actually lost our order resulting in a long wait for our food but we were in no rush, next thing I know the Owner comes to our table apologizes and comps our entire meal, all without us saying a word)
Fountain Lounge in Roosevelt Hotel (great cocktail bar, not an expert on Sazerac's but this one was damn good).
A few disappointments:
Hermes Bar-Antoine's (oysters rockefeller was too rich for us),
Coquette (We went in with high hopes but things seemed off last night, maybe not the A team on Sundays? It was fairly empty so maybe the locals are in the know. Could have been we were also in a food coma by this point)
Drago's Hilton Riverside (charbroiled oysters - ok but nothing earth shattering, think I just prefer raw).
Peche would be at the top of list for anyone visiting soon.

Closed according to Robert Dyer.
New place called Ev and Maddy's has opened in the space. Read the comments to the article - interesting.

Have not been personally but have heard good things about Sugo's brunch. All you can eat for $30 (small plates with about 15 or so choices), includes bottomless mimosas and bloody marys.

This is some great stuff. The whole process is a little overwhelming, too many decisions. Any suggestions on appliances and cabinets.
Cooktop
Dishwasher - leaning towards a Bosch
Wall Oven
Microwave - will be built into island
Refrigerator - reusing our 4 year old cabinet depth Kitchen Aid, so far so good
Met with a design firm today and the are recommending Mouser cabinets. Don't know much about them.

We are in the beginning stages of remodeling our kitchen and I'm thinking we need a designer to help with the layout and maximize the space. Can anyone recommend an affordable designer who works in Montgomery County. Not looking for a one stop shop as we have a contractor that we would like to use.
Also, open to any suggestions of things to include and to avoid from those of you who have been through this before.

Any updates here - website says they are still closed.

We stopped in here on Saturday night with some friends and really enjoyed it. The burnt ends are really good as was the brisket and pulled pork. The have 3 different sauces in bottles on the table that were very good. They are still working out some of the kinks and did not have the full menu up and running yet and they still have not completed the interior remodeling.
Few minor quibbles - the wings were not very good, small (bottle only) beer selections and everything seemed overpriced to me. Bottles of Flying Dog for $9. Service was quick and friendly.

Cochon Butcher is always a favorite, and easier to get into now that they've expanded. I would not miss a chance at Peche. It is phenomenal, and open for lunch.
Ok, we have added Peche.

I would strongly suggest you somehow squeeze in Coquette. Truly.
Did you do the blind tasting menu here? Not sure I can talk the wife in to doing that, not really her speed.
