We were here a couple Saturdays ago after a basketball game in the area. Originally tried to get into Cava but was a 45 minute wait at 7 pm. We grabbed a table in the bar and had great service despite a packed bar. Food was fine nothing earth shattering but still a good value in my opinion. Would not go out of my way to go here but also wouldn't hesitate to return. I had a steak that was perfectly cooked kids had some calamari that they happily devoured. Wife had crab cakes which looked to be mostly lump crab.

We stopped in here last Saturday night around 7 pm and were able to grab a 4 top table in the bar area. The main dining area had a few open tables but was full by the time we left. My wife had the same thought that you had regarding the Bandolero feel. We both tried the margaritas and both liked the versions we ordered and felt they were reasonably priced ($8). We started with the guacamole and two salsas (they have about 10 options for salsa), the kids devoured it. For entrees, we tried the quesadilla, mixiote, carnitas and barbacoa tacos. I agree with Don that the tacos are a bit small but priced fairly. We enjoyed all of our dishes.
Service was great and food arrived quickly. Great addition to the area. We will be back.

reat meal at Ray's the Steaks over the weekend, but so sad to end the meal with a little piece of fudge instead of the usual hot chocolate. I loved that hot chocolate!
It's been a while since I've been there...could have been the norm for a while.
We were at the Classics 2 weeks ago and they had the hot chocolate.

Great, because what Bethesda really needs is another pizza place!
Sigh.
Wing Hubs wings took a dip in quality a while back...went from tasty small wings to bigger wings that weren't as good...but it was still nice to have them there.
For what it's worth Maggie's is also now closed.

Didn't see a thread on this place but targeting a February opening.
A little research indicates this is from the same people who run St. Arnold's Mussel Bar.

Probably should update guide to reflect that they are now open and no longer closed for renovations.

@jandres....and you know this because??????.....you've eaten there or you work there?
Not sure what you are referring to. I cut and paste directly from the Rockville Towne Center website.

Per Wash Biz Journal the Old Town location is closing this Sunday. Will reopen as an Irish Pub by March.
Correction - Kingstowne location, not Old Town.

According to their facebook page they are moving to Charleston, SC. That does not sound like a nearby address.

Any one know where I can pick up some Mad Elf - looking to purchase as a gift for someone.

They do have a lot of talent there, almost too much. And that's what worries me.
Kathy is working only part-time - another MS, Keith Goldston, is the Wine Director. And let's not forget Owen Thomson is behind the bar.
So what worries me? Againn (as one example) did the same type of thing, front-loading the restaurant with talent when it first opened. I'll be very curious to see where Range is a year, or two years, from now.
It's a legitimate business strategy, "If you build it, they will come." They, of course, being the restaurant critics, with reviews that are available for purchase, framed. "They" also being bloggers and customers drawn by rave reviews from critics and bloggers.
In the Dining Guide, I had Againn rated as the number one restaurant downtown east of 16th Street for quite awhile; it now sits down at the bottom of the list, in small font, because it has closed. You can look at Inox as another example, although that was not a good time to be opening in Tysons Corner - there will come a time, if that time has not already come, when I'm the only person to remember just how great that restaurant was.
Nobody is pulling for Range more than I am, and I hope they succeed and continue to grow, but it never hurts to be mindful of the past.

Apparently re-opening in Shaw. More info here from Caraman: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/going-out-guide/wp/2013/11/19/dino-plans-to-leave-cleveland-park-and-rebrand-itself-in-shaw/

We eat here often for lunch as it is near our new office on Union Street. Great burgers and surprisingly great salads that I can never seem to finish.
