deangold Posted March 5, 2011 Share Posted March 5, 2011 Wednesday March 23 we will be offering a farmer's dinner with Zach Lester of Tree & Leaf. Zach is an amazing grower who specializes in many Italian varieties of greens and is one of our main produce suppliers. He recently purchased a farm and the wait for his production to start to ramp up has been a long one, but he is starting to get a lot of product. We will do a tasting menu format with somewhere in the vicinity of 8 or 10 dishes. Trying to write a menu this far out is simply a fantasy, because the veggies we will be eating on the 23 are just too small to predict which will be harvestable right now. But there are lots of frisees, escaroles, radicchio etc in the ground. His head lettuces are at baby size right now so I am pretty sure we will have a grilled salad. Two versions of the menu will be available, one with meat and one purely vegetarian. As always with our dinners, a 4 wine flight will be available as well as Andrew's cocktail creations for $30 tax & gratuity included. The cost of the vegetarian dinner is $50 per person tax & tip included. The version with meat is $65, but it will not be a meat feast with a few veggies but just the reverse. It will be a few of the dishes in the regular version with meat added. Please call the restaurant for reservations and for a chance to spend some time with Zach & his family & crew. Anna Blume Posted March 8, 2011 Share Posted March 8, 2011 A reporter from NPR came to the Dupont Circle market this weekend to interview Zach and Katherine and in general, hold a fuzzy mike up high over the vegetables to record all the activity inside the vinyl walls of Tree & Leaf's tent.
