Tweaked Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 So good we went twice. You can easily zip around and view the many blockbuster pieces of Western art: Grant Wood's American Gothic Edward Hopper's Nighthawks George Seurat's Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte Vincent Van Gogh's Bedroom in Arles Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec's At the Moulin Rouge Mary Cassatt's A Child's Bath or escape the crowds and explore their excellent Asian collection (the side galleries were practically empty). or the cool furniture and design collection. or the multitude of collections we didn't get to. We did find their modern/contemporary collection to be underwhelming...as the gf said, a lot of second rate work from big name artists. Cool building especially the new(ish) modern wing. Expect to pay a heft $23 entrance fee, we get spoiled in DC! 1
goodeats Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 There is still Thursday free nights, though it's a shorter window now. Used to be free for the entire day! The new wing is indeed beautiful and worth visiting for the space and little cafe, I think.Hope you didn't miss Chagall's window!
