Jacques Gastreaux
Just got back from 4 days in Bismarck, the capital of North Dakota. After the taco pizza from A & B and the "pitchfork fondue," we found a place called the Pirogue (pronounced P'Rouge) Grille run by CIA trained chef Stuart Tracy. What a suprise. Who would have known that fine dining existed in North Dakota (I actually got the recommendation from our own "Farmer Bruce"). Chef Tracy does an excellent job of sourcing ingredients (walleye!), preparing them and presenting them. The service is good as well. The restaurant is comfortably appointed and the wine list well tailored to the menu. If you go, ask if they have any wines that are not on list. We did and they produced a nice Renwood Zin and a Cline Mourvedre Small Berry Vinyard that was a pleasant suprise. So, if you find yourself in Bismarck, I recommend the Pirogue Grille. Who would'a thunk?websitePicture of a "pirogue"
Al Dente
Next DR.com dinner extravaganza venue? Perhaps January... I seem to recall that there is a chipper in Fargo, though it's a lot different that Eamonn's. Maybe lunch there?
