Chocolate-Covered Strawberries

Does anyone know where you can buy chocolate-covered strawberries this time of year in the DC area, other than Wegmans? I'm trying to avoid the added expense of mail order, though if anyone can vouch for ones by mail I might be willing to try it.

I can certify that Whole Foods and Balducci's will both make them for you if you call in an order, plus they might have them ready-to-go in their stores. (Call the catering dept at either store.) I used to make hundreds of them when I was a sorority chef because my girls' sorority had strawbs as one of their official symbols. Chocolate-covered strawbs have a very limited shelf life, but they're not hard to make yourself. I can post some tips if you like.

Godiva also makes them. I believe I have seen frozen ones at TJs, which solves the perishable issue - though probably not as tasty and pretty.

I think that Bittersweet Cafe in Old Town Alexandria does a good job with chocolate covered strawberries, and might still have them available.
