  1. A fun, easy question - what is YOUR favorite thing to have when you eat sushi? And along the same lines, what do you think is the most creative, best type of roll you make? I love sushi and I'm always looking for new ideas to order things "off menu."
  2. I think I'm sold on Zaytinya. I know there was a little discussion of this earlier, but I'm still unclear on their reservation policy... the website says that reservations are "limited to dinner between 5 and 6:30 for pre-theater patrons." So, any other time, is it just walk in? How long should I expect to wait on a Friday night? (You'd think that Open Table would have a note about this policy instead of just telling you that you can't make a reservation at this time...) I made a reservation at Cafe Atlantico because I'm not a huge fan of the "wait" aspect, but after looking over the Zaytinya menu, I was swayed. Tzatziki, goat cheese in grape leaves, and seared sesame salmon with pomegranate vinegarette? I think this restaurant was made for me...
  3. I agree - I have a reservation at Cafe Atlantico coming up soon (Minibar was booked...) but Jaleo could definitely fit the bill. Any kind of food, we're all very adventurous. Young, energetic atmosphere, pretty much in the district itself or in close suburbs. Does that help? I've never been to Marcel's - I think the food would be great, but I don't know if the atmostphere is upbeat enough.
  4. I'm looking for ideas of a restaurant to take two of my best friends for their 21st and 22nd birthdays. I have plenty of ideas for places with great food, but I'd love ideas of places that have great food and something more... great atmosphere and fun. Neither of them drink (really) so it's not really worth going to somewhere that has the "creative drinks" option. Any suggestions?
  5. Does anyone know anything about the drag brunch at Perry's on Sundays? There was a little blurb about it in the Post (I think) today in their brunch section, but didn't totally clarify what it consists of... sounds entertaining.
  6. The poor, poor meal there was just a few weeks ago (I believe 2nd week of February). It was quite a disappointment. I had been looking forward to an extravagant meal there since I moved to Georgetown almost 4 years ago, it certainly did not live up to expectations in service: delivering incorrect appetizers, taking upwards of 30 minutes for a bottle of wine, etc. or food quality, which as I said, was merely mediocre. I wish I could say it was fantastic, maybe it was just an off-night, but alas, it was not an experience I wish to repeat in any form.
  7. Although I have been a frequenter of this board for a while, this is my first post, so please be kind... My parents (and aunt and uncle) are coming for my graduation festivities from Georgetown in mid-May. We are looking for a few restaurants for celebratory dinners throughout the weekend. My parents love Kinkeads - we've always had wonderful meals there (I think it earned points with my mom because we saw Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe there at our last meal). We were also thinking about Citronelle. We had an EXTREMELY disappointing meal at 1789 for their last trip out here. The service was awful and the food was mediocre. Some other ideas like fun places such as Mie n Yu were being thrown around just for atmosphere and drinks, not necessarily for extraordinary food quality. After reading opinions that everyone on this board has, I would love to see what ideas you have. Everything that I've read has great validity and I'd love to hear about new places. Obviously, we'll be in the Georgetown area, so places in DC easily accessible by cab are more practical than places way out in Virgina or Maryland. -- A little background on "tastes" - the fam is from Northern California, mother loves pasta, chicken, father loves... well, everything. We are big seafood fans in general, but not too inclined to enjoy extremely ethinc foods (indian/greek, etc - although I adore sushi, the rest of my family thinks it is disgusting). Thanks for any imput!
