Pumpkin Ravioli was good, although a little sweet, I thought. Plus I thought the portion could have been a bit bigger for the price.

The mushroom/veal risotto my wife got was quite good.

Thanks for the heads up on Argana and the feel of the country! I'm definitely learning about the prices being driven up as we negotiate costs for our meeting. I'm in the bargaining mindset for our site visit next week, and I'll report back any good findings here.

Just found out this week I'll be spending 3 weeks in Marrakech, Morocco this June for work. Has anyone been and, if so, any restaurant/market recommendations? Three weeks is a long time, so I'm looking to explore any and everything: cheap/pricey, small/large, quiet/crowded, etc. I'll be on gov't per diem, which is approx. $99 a day at this point, and I'm hoping that gives me plenty to work with...I'm learning that Marrakech is more expensive than expected.

One great place is a place in the Jemma El Fna (kind of like the square in the center of town) called Argana. The food there is very authentic. My wife is Moroccan and she was quite impressed with food when we were there last year, even though it is in the the main tourist area, she said it was very close to "home cooking". All the tagines there are great.

Morocco is one of the "in" countries right now, so there is a lot of investments coming in from Europe driving up the prices of many things. Additionally, for things other than food, there is a tourist price and a "locals" price. I would encourage you to bargain (don't worry it's expected).

Moroccans are very friendly people, you'll have a great time there.

Hmmm, sounds like the GOG is saying that it is even better than 2 Amy's or Paradiso. Am I the only one a little bit skeptical with that claim? I am in the area enough that I will have to try it out.

The pizza is OK, not the best I've ever had, but pretty decent. The restaurant is a welcome addition to the concrete wasteland that is Rosslyn.

When I was a kid I had 2 strange things I remember eating. One was carrot sticks dipped in butterscotch. The other was chocolate chips cookies dipped in Heinz 57.

Had Lunch there on Sunday. Sandwiches were good. Tres Leches cake was great. I'll be going back to try their dinner menu.

Any places that I shouldn't miss? looking more for hole in the wall type places with good food as opposed to 5 star dining experiences.

When I was there last year, we stayed at the MGM. I thought the rooms were fine.

Went to Bouchon and had an excellent meal. I think you'll like it.

For Breakfast, I would suggest the Buffet at Paris.

Oh yeah. I forgot about Girl and the Fig. Had a couple great meals there. I second (or is that 3rd) that suggestion.

I'll second the Market suggestion in St. Helena.

FWIW, I always found the wineries in Sonoma, much "friendlier" than most of the ones in Napa and usually less crowded as well.

I'll second Cafe Pasqual's in Santa Fe. You may also want to try La Casa Sena (nice patio for outdoor dining)
