Going to Vegas in a few weeks. I already have reservations at Le Bouchon and Mesa Grill. Any place else I shouldn't miss?
-
My wife and I went a couple years back and were really underwhelmed by Cintronelle and haven't been back since. The service and food were adequate, nothing near what I have experienced at other "high-end" places.
Maybe it was an off night.

Yes. More marbling, more better.

I was going to suggest Luna Grill as well. I had one there not to long ago that was pretty good.
Here's hpw their menu reads:
monte cristo 7.95
ham, turkey & swiss on batter dipped sourdough

One just opened down in Woodbridge, off the Prince William Parkway as well.

Yes, I think some people can be "food snobs", especially when it comes to wine.
These people either take themselves way to seriously or are trying to impress others or both.

funny site.

Morimoto's is very good. My wife and I were up there a couple years back and had the multi course Omakase. It is a TON of food. The food was great and the sushi was some of the best I've had anywhere.

I've unfortunately had to eat at an E & C or two in my day, and you all are right, the food is not good and is a dumbing down of what you get in those great pubs in the UK.

Something did seem kind of hinky about that Eve post. Maybe they have an ulterior motive

I'd agree with the Eastern market suggestion. There also used to be a good butcher in Alexandria on Little River Turnpike about a 1/2 mile past Landmark Mall on the left if you're in the Alexandria/Fairfax area (not sure if it's still there anymore).

I have to agree with JG. If the place needs jazzing up, does the food need it also?

I find that there are some good VA wines out there, but you have to look hard sometimes. One will have a good red, where anoher will have a good white.

Not a big selection of the VA wineries are presented in the article either. There are better wines produced at several of the wineries that weren't mentioned.

yeah, I would think other "wine" states like VA, OR, WA, etc.. vote for it too.

OK. Now that we've had the best burger thread who has the best fries?

Sorry mdt, didn't mean to come off so harsh.
that being said. plain and simple Carl's taste much better and has a smoother texture.
been eating it all of my 40 years.
Carl's was featured in the PBS special on ice cream that came out a few years back.

Carl's Frozen Custard in Fredericksburg, VA is the best. It's been there for over 50 years turning out the best stuff in the world. It puts that crap that Milwaukee Frozen Custard serves to shame.

Ben's was recently on the Food Channel on one of those Al Roker hosted shows, like Roker on the Road or something like that.

Just had lunch there. Had the pumpkin seed crusted talipia. it was great.

I think all the suggestions are good. The bottom line is you've got to be on the look out for good deals. I've bought stuff from the more expensive places and I've bought stuff from Target, etc... like JPW mentioned in his post.
You may also want to check the classified's every so often for sales where they auction off equipment, etc... from failed ventures.

I think she's right. A few of you do take yourselves a bit too seriously.
