  1. RTC Apple Store Eyes Neighboring Space Vacated by Pottery Barn by Catherine Douglas Moran, RestonNow

Apple Inc. filed a building permit for the spot recently vacated by Pottery Barn, which is next door to the Apple Store at 11949 Market St.

The permit description says that it is for a new tenant layout. It remains unclear at this time whether Apple is considering expanding or moving into the new space.

  2. Ventured here again for lunch yesterday, had not been in some time.  They now have the Express Lunch menu, pick 3 for $22 or pick 4 for $28.  A great value and the Caesar Salad was one of the best I have had in a long time.  The Addie's Mussel's were packing just enough heat (chili pepper) for a nice twist.  Walked in at 1 PM and was seated no problem (2), but the place was not busy.  Perhaps the odd Tuesday lunch but typically the place was always pretty consistent. The key lime pie for dessert was a great touch and even though the portion small, it was rich and flavorful.  Probably one of the better meals I have enjoyed in some time, and very reasonable for the investment.

  3. Boston Properties Taps New Leasing Agent as Stores Shutter by Catherine Douglas Moran, RestonNow

“This year will hold exciting changes for Reston Town Center,” Katie Yanushonis, the vice president of leasing at Boston Properties, said in the press release. “Our investment in the branding and placemaking of Reston Town Center will help maintain its place as the leading mixed-use development in the United States.”

  4. Had a little extra time for lunch today and decided to have RW Lunch at FF Reston location.  Parking was easy and validated, valet is available for $3.

Menu for RW was pretty extensive and we opted for Deviled eggs, their Guac, pimento spread and salsa combo to start.  Everything was good, and service prompt.

Their French Dip was excellent as was the burger - rounded out by scoop of ice cream and donut of your choice.   Place has decent natural light with booths lining row of windows facing courtyard area.  Place is not huge, bar was consistently busy and overall a pretty good lunch for $50.  Having found FF is hit-or-miss (the Tysons location was underwhelming on several visits), we were pleasantly surprised with this location.

  5. Had dinner here the other night prior to the Capital's Game so it was early.  We had a 5:30 reservation and were 20 minutes late, due to overwhelming traffic.  We had called at 5:20 and indicated we would be 15-20 minutes late and they were fine with that, which is very cool.  We got there at 5:30 and were seated promptly.

Place was busy from the time we got there and when we left at 7:30.  Since it was Restaurant Week, we opted for that menu as it was very intriguing.  All four of us were happy we did - the 4 courses + dessert were very filling and all excellent, from Hommus to meatballs, shrimp and grilled chicken, all was excellent.  Food and service were prompt, and that bread they serve is highly addicting.  The woman who was constantly floating around with the bread refills was spot-on and we never waited or were without it.

The RW menu was pretty great and we will be back non-RW.  Incidentally - the valet parking here is great for Dinner and post-Caps game - we came out and the car was 15' from the front entrance to the restaurant.

  6. Looks like they have another location coming to the old Bertucci's spot in Ashburn.  The Cascades location is great - decent bar food and brunch on weekends.  Service is solid and view of lake is nice.  Lots of TVs and good drinks as well.  Outdoor seating when weather is good.

SIGNS UP AT ASHBURN’S BUNGALOW ALEHOUSE by Chris Wadsworth, Theburn

The Bungalow Alehouse is part of a Northern Virginia-based company called The Escape Group of Restaurants. It includes The Bungalow Lakehouse in Sterling, the Bungalow Alehouse in Woodbridge and The Bungalow in Chantilly.

  7. Since this is a well-informed group and people appear to have "special" access or insight, any news on the Reston location of Clydes?  Hearing various things from numerous people (like I did way before il Fornaio closed), and am hoping it just speculation.  The Clyde's location in RTC is perfect, centrally-located, view of concerts, fountain (ice skating in Winter) etc...and one of the original anchor stores at RTC.  Anyone?  Anyone?
