No shame in that. Actually, I've been perma-banned from making comments for typing something that had nothing obscene in it. 

I like the NYT's moderated comments sections, people are more inclined to think before shooting from the hip. The WaPo comments is not so much moderated as subject to the whim of the day, and it's mostly short bursts of fire. 

Last night I cubed some of the leftover Legolam from last weekend, and sautéed it a bit, then ladled my late MIL's recipe for curry sauce over it accompanied by Basmati rice and fresh broccoli that was microwaved for a bit then finished in a pan with some diced red onion.

Today it is one Bowl of Maruchan Chicken Ramen to which I have added chili-garlic sauce and sesame oil.

There was a band that would perform Genesis material out in Fairfax a couple of times a year named "Selling Fairfax By the Pound". Always meant to catch one of their shows, but life got in the way.

I wish I had seen the earlier, prog rock version of Genesis live. Kevin Gilbert and Giraffe performed great covers. There's one of them playing Lamb Lies Down at the '94 Progfest. However, that's been removed in order to package it and the rest of the songs they did from the album for sale. There is one crummy quality tape on YouTube that skips over most of the wonderful entrance during which Kevin comes on stage as Peter Gabriel, holding a boombox. Kasey Kasem is heard on the boombox about to play a Genesis song...which turns out to be Invisible Touch. Gilbert throws the boombox in a trash can and pounds it with the end of a broom handle. Then walks over to his band and they go right into "Lamb". 

I am pleased to nominate Minnie Ripperton's "Lovin You is Easy 'Cause You're Beautiful".

I made Keema Matar with ground beef, peas, diced onion, a cubed Russet potato, Passata, cinnamon, cumin, garlic, fresh grated ginger, frozen peas, curry powder, and a bit of fresh habenero from the patio garden, served over rice. Yum, glad I have leftovers!

I bring the catnip plant in the house, and they make a beeline for it. They don't devastate it, just a few nibbles. 

Crimson seemed upset this morning, glancing into the patio/backyard even between bites of food. Later I went to look at the herb and pepper garden, and the catnip plant looks like some other cat passed through and stuck it's face into the plant...not eaten, just disturbed. Other cats he doesn't know freak him out.

I can only imagine how much sodium is in Central Grocery's version, but The Italian Store's comes across as having double the salt.

Central Grocery ships their muffalettas, btw.

Best way to eat a muffuletta is to be in N.O., and buy one before you fly home. Have it the next day after all the olive juices have soaked into the bun. You're welcome (don't you hate when people append that smug coda?).

An update of sorts, then.

We got in touch with Laurel Cats, a nonprofit that does TNR and now also does fostering and adoption in the greater Laurel, MD area. We managed to get all of the cats that we had not yet gotten TNRed and thus no more kittens. There were issues, but those settled down by early 2016 to a still in force uneasy truce with the Horrible Neighbor. I discovered 6 other neighbors in our neighborhood that help see to these ferals and we are all coordinated now and take care by supporting each other during vacations, health issues and the like - it's been great.

Sadly, we lose some of the cats over the years - we have foxes and even a coyote. Plus cars and asshole drivers. But we do what we can - good vet care. Excellent food and fresh water. Protection from weather and so on. It's been interesting to see how the outdoor cats have adopted to me being WFH for the past three months during the covid19 - they come around more and want attention too. It's a great relationship I have with these guys.

Thank you and your neighbors for being so kind to these feral kitties! You're enriching their little lives, giving them engagement, love, food, medical attention if they need it, and reducing the feral cat population. 😸

Saturday was dreary here in Southern CT, a perfect day to bake. My first attempt at Challah!

I forgot to add the salt, didn't seem to affect the taste. I sprinkled it over the egg wash before baking.

I'd trap the neighbor and release him far, far away.

My two boys, Crimson and Aengus, have the same mommy and different daddies. We moved from an overpriced apartment in Falls Church to a house outside New Haven, CT in November 2019. They have a ton more space to run around, and are strictly indoor cats. Lots of catertainment here as we have 3.6 acres, much of which is wooded. They get to watch birds on the feeders, chipmunks on the patio, squirrels, deer, wild turkeys, and maybe even bear and bobcats when I'm asleep (a bear took down the feeder and stole a big block of hot pepper suet a couple of months ago). 

We're quite happy here.

Aengus (the younger of the half brothers on the right) is usually hungry like the wolf. Crimson (on the left and a bobtail) has a more sensitive tummy and is the main barfer. 

I have become quite good at cleaning up Katzenbarf. 

Sad to learn this, I remember being taken to Hard Times in Alexandria for the first time sometime in the 80's by my then in-laws. I always got the Cincinnati style. Last year I bought a bottle of the chili vinegar from Fred, and it got left behind when I moved to CT in November. 

There are special bowls for cats to (supposedly) make them eat slower with raised surfaces the food falls between.
