I remember making butter in a blender as a kid, after seeing instructions on how to do it with ice and cream in the newspaper or something.

Was down in Wilmington for a few days and we didn't eat out much, but wanted to again say that La Costa Mexican restaurant is really good. They have great salsa that is thick and chunky and really good with nice homemade corn chips. I had the carnitas and the the meat was heaven. Nicely flavored, extremely tender with great sauce with just enough spice to be good, but not too much to ward off anyone afraid of heat. They come with a choice of corn or flour tortillas which is nice and had side of rice, beans, pica de gallo and guac.
Order from the specials on the back page of the lunch menu... trust me. If you go for dinner all the dishes are under their type of protein, I think the more authentic and less tex-mex dishes are standouts here.
Here is their website: http://www.lacostamexicanrestauranwilmington.com/
Wanted to go back to Catch or to Marc's on Market, but neither are open for lunch.
I love La Costa and when I'm visiting a friend who only lives about 2 miles from the restaurant I insist we go, usually on the first night I'm there. I agree with your opinion of the salsa and chips being so good, and signaling the goodness to come. Their mole dishes are good.

Thanks again for the above suggestions. We decided to stop at the Skylight Inn as I wanted to continue my check-off of iconic BBQ places (Sweatmans in SC and Wilbur's in Goldsboro were previous stops). The whole hog was delicious with the skin cracklings mixed in. We got to see the cleaver dance as my son called it, the two handed chopping and mixing of the various pig parts. In Wilmington we really liked Fork and Cork's pub food, especially their duck wings. Another nice stop was Benny's Big Time Pizza, which doubled as a southern take on Italian food in addition to the pizza.
I visit a friend in Wilmington at least twice a year, I've been to Fork and Cork a few times, loved their short rib mac & cheese!

I have found that If I'm going to D.C., UBER Black is the only one I can depend on to actually get me there on time and back in a decent vehicle. I've had too many experiences with regular UBER that results in a beat to hell car showing up with a driver who has no idea how to get anywhere.

I grew up about a mile from this place, played Little League baseball at a field directly adjacent to this strip mall, and I always felt like (with no real evidence) that this was a "locals" bar that you did not want to enter if you did not already belong to the group of regulars. I was not one of said regulars.
Yeah, that's what's kept me from going. It seems so small that it would be hard to be anonymous. "Hey, who's this?"

I caught a bit of a live performance when surfing channels the other night, and compared to the first time I saw them, I thought they were more formidable sounding than I had previously given them credit for. But I'm not familiar with their material and that was just a narrow sample.

I evacuated my apartment Friday night after a day without power, and decamped to the Residence Inn in Arlington. I stepped out to grab a sub from Taylor, since it was nearby and I wanted to get back to my cat who was with me. I ordered the cheesesteak, but thought I'd be "healthy" and get chicken instead of beef. Ugh. Too much bread, too dry. I nibbled on it all night.

I was bummed to not see the Cultured Salted Butter on the refrigerated shelves on my last visit.

Is the Tyson's location up and running? I see the Grand Opening is Dec 15th.

Tonight is Arugula Pesto over DeCicco gnocchi with a salad of baby lettuce and Campari tomatos. The wine is something called Crimson Thread, a red blend. I told my cat it was named after him.

Haven't been there since 2003, but stayed at Grand Hotel de l'Opera the night before flying home, and due to fatigue just ate in the hotel restaurant and had a memorable Cassoulet.

As a far too frequent Wegmans shopper... if someone is behind the sushi counter- they will custom make whatever you want. I sometimes ask for things made just because it is fresher and the rice not ice cold (if it isn't in the cooler below)
Thanks! I get intimidated by the sushi experience.

The rising awareness of the sport as Concussion Central may be a factor as well.

I like the sushi at Wegman's in Fairfax. But I haven't had any since I have difficulty finding a package that doesn't use quinoa and brown rice.
Disclaimer: I am not much of a seafood eater, salmon and tuna are my speed.

As the article mentions, in 2012 he whined that Papa John’s might have to raise prices on its (so called) pizza by 11 to 14 cents per pie to offset penalties he claimed would be imposed under the Affordable Care Act.

I'm an American Cheese snob. Land 'o Lakes is the best, and Wegman's house brand is very close. I really don't care for some of the other supermarket brands of American Cheese.

More about it in the Post. He's written a memoir to be published next summer. Seems a bit premature, no?

Well, all malls seem to desperately need more space for stores that sell clothes to size 0 women you know...

I know when Minerva still had their Fairfax outpost, Chicken 65 was on the menu.

I don't care what anyone thinks, I like the TJ's Cultured and Salted butter. Because it has both qualities that appeal to me, a bit of a tang, but salted.

Honestly, I'd go to Wegman's.

I had friends who drew up extra "draw cards" for Feds and Heads, they were quite funny.
