Is this the place at 17th and L?
YES and it's delish!

While picking up my dry cleaning yesterday, I saw that the door to Upstream was open. Poked my head in and talked to the construction manager. His best guess was opening in 6 weeks.
He seemed very impressed with the owner. The owner is currently the seafood manager at the Silver Spring Giant with 25+ years experience in seafood retail. Has evidently ordered top of the line equipment for everything.
Thanks for checking in--and keep us posted! This may make me happy as a clam!

Nobody has mentioned York Castle. Great tropical flavors
And the Guinness Ice Cream was top notch as well!

Sad to say I must have hit it on an off day, or maybe it's just not as good at dinner, but I definitely was unimpressed. The broth, on a good day, at Asian Bistro downtown was much richer and tastier than Pho Nguyen.Pho Nguyen. Rockville Pike about 2 miles north of downtown Rockville. -
Just got out of the bath
I see your food luck and raise you a Welches grape jelly on matzah. That's what was for lunch the past two days
I was once served a ruben that was slathered in mayo. That, my friends, is criminal.
But if you only had eaten Welch's grape jelly on matzah brei--mmmhh, one of my favorites!

Oh, and I found out one of the sandwiches my hubby had that was so disappointing--it was the same one I had! It seems he was given a very skimpy amount of the proscuitto, which in my mind would definitley throw off the balance of taste, and make me also wonder why I would be paying $7 for a few measly pieces of ham. Since it seems he's been burned twice, I'm still working on him to give it another try...guess I'll try to get over there again next week to sample some more so I can convince him to go get it for himself!
(He did approve of the matzoh--how couldn't he? That stuff is the best!)
-
mmmhhh--had the prosciutto, gorgonzola and fig jam sandwich and it was a great choice! Then I bought some matzoh to take home, and proceeded to gnosh on that (somebody...take...it...away...before...I...eat...the...whole...thing...)
Everyone in my office who walked in the kitchen asked what it was, as it doesn't resemble any traditional matzoh. But boy did they like it. As hillvalley said, there is that hint of salt that lingers after every bite--but I also detected a hint of butter. For those of you who like to smather butter on the good ol' boxed matzoh, this stands on its own quite well.

Thanx for the link!

May sneak away to the Grill tomorrow, but not today. Probably going to Breadline to pick up some of that yummy matzoh! Firefly's HH this week looked enticing...

For the novice, this is a neat listing of types of sushi

Darn those graduations! I missed last year's due to an event as well...
Until next time...

When I was trying to plan an office "happy hour" meeting in a short timespan, Circle Bistro came up as a possibility. Hard to find outdoor places that don't put one right in the path of all the exhaust and horns in that neck of the woods. Unfortunately, my boss changed her mind, but I know where I'll recommend for the next time we need to plan such an event!
-
Vote now, the decision will be announced Friday afternoon.
In that case, I vote for the 15th, since I'll be out of town for a graduation the 22nd. Item to consider: the weekend of the 22nd may also be graduation weekend in this neck of the woods...
I missed the last picnic, so hopefully I'll be able to make it to this one!
-
Let's keep the voting for which date open until Friday and then decide from there.
I'm not sure what you mean--do we vote now and decide Friday, or are you saying we think about it and put our votes in ON Friday? (Sorry for being so dense, but I'm only a shrimp)

unless you call Cameron's a fish market

Maybe by letter count? How about the humuhumunukunukuapua'a

Upstream Seafood Market, which offers a variety of fresh seafood, is moving to Montgomery Hills.
The store will be located at 9426 Georgia Ave. in the Seminary Place shopping center and is expected to move into the location soon.
I noticed the sign in the shopping center a week or so ago, but today there was a truck in the parking lot with the name all over it--I'm guessing they've opened?
I guess I'll have to try to swing by sometime (since JPW probably won't be )

Well, I am already in the seafood family...

Please offer recs for what to order...my husband has gone twice now and said he doesn't see what all the hype is about for a $7 sandwich! I did ask what he ordered, but I can't recall at the moment. I'll follow up when I find out. I read Don's post to him, and asked if he'd tried the turkey-- not so, and he agreed he'll give it another shot.
While taste is subjective, I'd like to know if anyone thinks I should recommend a different sandwich to him?

Ditto...anyone have any news or updates?
On a whim, what are you up to?

Sun is out now. ..and there's also the room in the back for those who forget the paper towels!
I looked for Nadya and Mark, but didn't see ya...thought you may have bailed due to the weather...(sorry, I don't know who to look for "funjohnny" so if you were there, I missed you, too!)
