Once I went through the drive through at McD's, ordered two cheeseburgers, (the cheap ones with one patty, pickles, onions, ketchup, and mustard) I received two buns with pickles, onions, ketchup, and mustard-no patty.

Insomnia once again forcez me to type on this crappy android keyboard. It's hard to tell from reading text but I was joking. Knave kids, and a dog, whom I love VERY much. I also plan on dining with the dog at least once, never have, and the. Hildren as often as they will have.
I meant the part about the felines though.
Forgive the spelling. Also gotta agree with the post above on just about every point.

I rather like the idea of taking my dog for a long walk and having a place to stop for a quick bite and a cold beer.. However, I am very happy that I don't have to see any snooty felines at my favorite eateries..
The worst people however, are the ones with dogs and kids..

sorry, I work a lot, 2 jobs.. actually notice was the last thing on my mind. But hey, you've got a few days to make plans for the block party/lamb roast on Saturday.
There will actually be quite a lot going on there, I think.
-
It was lot a fun, hope some of you made it out. We ran out of all the animals, swine and lamb, by 3pm.. Guess that means it was a success.
The lamb roast is actually scheduled for this coming Saturday, (the 16th) not Sunday. Part of a big block party on V st.

Bit of shameless plugging..
Alex Vallcorba and I have been working together at Local 16 for a month or so now. I don't know what people on the board here think of it, but I would like to inform everyone of a pig roast we are having tomorrow (July 10, 2011). We have over 500# of pig from Whitehouse meats, and some tasty side dishes made with Whipple Farms veggies..
Party starts at noon. I think it's fifteen bucks.. and it's all to kick off Eat Local Week, or something like that.. there is a lamb roast the following Sunday. Check it out...here
We also have a new menu and new improved pizze..

I know a great pizza guy who is looking for a gig, and has a business plan.

I had fun doing it. Dave and Nate and the whole Ardeo/Bardeo crew are great, (and the food is real good too! Nate should sell that bacon at retail or farmers markets or something)!
and thanks for the kind words Dave.

I suggest an apartment, with a kitchen. Then you can appreciate the quality of the raw food products sold at La Boqureia.

One of the Best! and look how much fun they are having, and the line.

I'm pretty sure "Blood Orange Consomme" is actually simple syrup with strained orange juice incorporated, and even with a funny title, it's still not very good. Or, I should say it might be good, but it's not any better than blood orange simple syrup, and in any case, I would have rather had the rum baba I thought I was having before the "consomme" added.

In any case, the pastry chef guy ( I already forgot his name due to a nice lunch at Lyon Hall that included a couple of Saison from Philly, and also featured a chance sighting of Pizzaiolo Chris Nye )that is opening the Mexican restaurant struck a chord with me when he said this, "The point of Empellon is to be solid and straight forward and serve food that's worthy of craving rather than pondering. "
So much silly food, trendy food, (and my least favorite) fancy food. And still there is this urgency to jump on the latest bandwagon, slap it with a trendy label, (as in Molecular Gastronomy, Pizza Napoletana, Tapas, etc..oh and Artisan-that one is important from a marketing perspective) and then make some mediocre, run of the mill, half assed crap that does nothing but shame the cuisine it is (poorly) derived from.
So, this probably doesn't make a lot of sense, but what I would like to state clearly is...

frizzled prosciutto :-) I'm on a serious egg kick myself. Been buying them from the farm market, making a simple egg salad with yellow celery leaves, brunois sweet onion, and mayo, Then throwing it up on white bread. Yum.

Bukowski's
Cut While Shaving
It's never quite right, he said, the way people look,
the way the music sounds, the way the words are
written.
It's never quite right, he said, all the things we are
taught, all the loves we chase, all the deaths we
die, all the lives we live,
they are never quite right,
they are hardly close to right,
these lives we live
one after the other,
piled there as history,
the waste of the species,
the crushing of the light and the way,
it's not quite right,
it's hardly right at all
he said.
don't I know it? I
answered.
I walked away from the mirror.
it was morning, it was afternoon, it was
night
nothing changed
it was locked in place.
something flashed, something broke, something
remained.
I walked down the stairway and
into it.

Actually happened to me at least once, except it involved Vader and the rest of the Empire. Well, not exactly but exploited children were definitely part of the problem. Chicken Nuggets, If i had taken the bait and made them, those nuggets would have ruined McDonalds fer dem brats forever..

Those tofurky beer brats have confused the Fukk out of me. I think mother nature sheds a tear.

They make really good beer. The milk stout is one of my favorites, and you may scoff, but the Good Juju ginger beer is quite good, refreshing, and available only in the summer months..
