  1. Thanks for the report, Lydia & MrP. I'll be in DC this weekend visiting cousins, and they left the picking of a Friday night restaurant more or less up to me. We had a terrific meal at Dino last year, and so after seeing the new menu on line, it was an easy choice. A bonus is that my cousins' house is only about a 20-minute walk from Dino, which if the weather holds will save us from the Friday-nightmare Cleveland Park parking
  2. Whoohoo! Save a bottle for me. I'll be in for my first visit on Friday along with my cousins, who are Dino-ites.
  3. Would you believe I'll be getting them from BlackSalt Market? I spoke with Scott, the manager, last Saturday, and after ordering some scallops I mentioned that I also was looking for some duck breasts. Right away he said, "Let me see what I can do." He checked with his purveyors, and sure enough, he could get not one, but three kinds: regular Pekin, Muscovy, and magrets. It looks like they might be more expensive than the other places, but it's convenient and I know they'll be top quality. Cool.
  4. I'll be in DC next week for a convention and to visit my cousins. (Please also see my Corduroy thread.) I'm in charge of dinner for seven on the 20th and decided to grill some marinated duck breasts for the entree. Now all I need to do is find them, as my cousins don't have a clue. Please quack a reply if you have any info. Thanks.
  5. Greetings, all. Crackers recommended DonRockwell.com to me after I posted a question on another online site inquiring about current recommendations for Corduroy. I get to DC once or twice a year and usually stay with my cousins, also food and wine enthusiasts. I'll be in town next week from the 17th to the 21st for the American Psychological Association convention. I'm already booked for dinner with my cousins on the 17th at Dino (glad there's a thread here) and lunch with a publisher's rep on the 18th at Ten Penh. Dinner on the 18th is set aside for Corduroy. Between this and the other site's threads, I have a pretty good idea of what's current, but further recommendations are always welcome. I'll probably get there not long after 4, grab a seat in the bar area, veg out for a while, then start eating around 5-5:30. I'm planning to be back at the Convention Center for a 7:00 presentation, although I'm easily led astray. Would anyone like to join me for all or part of that time? I also have lunch breaks on the the 19th from 1 to 3 and on the 20th from 11 to 2. On Friday I'd prefer to be within walking distance of the Convention Center (Corduroy? Cafe Atlantico?) but on Saturday I'd go wherever public transportation or my feet can take me in a half-hour or less. Thanks, and happy to be here.
