Holly's Restaurant, a Grasonville Institution

Holly's is the kind of restaurant you really, really want to like. Total time warp experience. The kind of place that serves pork chops for breakfast. And proudly offers a bottomless mug of Maxwell House coffee. The place has a pie case, people, a pie case!

In reality, breakfast was mediocre. Scramble eggs stuffed with onion, peppers, and mushrooms was fine. The home fried potatoes were curiously mushy and beige. The bacon was super crispy (I prefer mine on the rare side) and the toast Wonder bread quality (which is really what I expected). And Maxwell House can only be brewed one way...and you know what way that is.

Just off Rt. 50 going through the Kent Island area, the breakfast choices seemed to be Holly's and Cracker Barrel. If you like your Cracker Barrel, I would advise sticking with what you like. If you want to experience local culture, hit up Holly's.

When I drive to the ocesn, I pop into Holly's for a black & white milkshake, and if I'm hungry, some of their tasty fried chicken.
